A paving mixture for application to a surface and a method for the same are provided. The mixture comprises a binding material layer applied to the surface to form a base layer on the surface, and an aggregate material layer applied on top of the binding material layer, wherein the binding material layer comprises at least 13% of the bitumen in the paving mixture by weight, the aggregate material layer contains an asphalt mixture that provides a road surface, and the aggregate material layer and the binding material layer are combined on the surface within 30 seconds of application of the binding material layer.

Pavement aging can be reduced by applying to an asphalt-containing pavement a topcoat layer or a surface treatment containing asphalt binder with sterols.

Described herein is a process for paving a surface with an asphalt paving material, comprising the steps of laying asphalt paving material on a surface to be paved; and combining an asphalt rejuvenator and the asphalt paving material; wherein the asphalt rejuvenator and the asphalt paving material are combined immediately before, concurrently with, or immediately after the asphalt paving material is laid on the surface to be paved. The asphalt paving material may be virgin asphalt, or it may comprise reclaimed asphalt pavement and/or recycled asphalt shingles.

An electronic device includes a first image sensor, a second image sensor, one or more image processing modules, and a display. The first image sensor generates first image data. The second image sensor generates second image data. The one or more image processing modules process one or more image data among the first image and the second image data. The display displays the one or more image data among the first image data or second image data processed by the one or more image processing modules. The thumbnail generation module generates thumbnail data using the one or more image data among the first image data and second image data processed by the one or more image processing modules. A method includes converting the plurality of image data into a format displayable on a display, and generating thumbnail data using the image data of the displayable format.

A method of resurfacing a length of roadway or other paved surface having markers thereon includes covering the markers with respective marker covers, applying a coating material to the road and the marker covers, then removing the covers. The marker covers mask the markers from the coating material. An inside dimension of the marker covers should approximate the widest outside dimension of the markers. The inside height of the marker cover can be higher than the height the marker extends over the surface. The cover should rest on the surface and not on the marker, for preferred masking and stability. The weight and shape of the covers should permit them to stay in place despite various disrupting forces. After coating, the covers can be removed or crushed in place.

A method for repairing/treating a pavement with the use of a rheology modifier is disclosed. The method comprises first applying a layer of a rheology modifier composition comprising a rejuvenating component onto the top surface of the pavement that needs repair, then applying a second layer of a binder onto the rheology modifier layer. The second layer of binder effectively seals the rheology modifier layer with the rejuvenating component for intimate contact with the top pavement surface, thus penetrating the surface layer to extend the life of the pavement surface, arresting the deterioration of visco-elastic properties and restoring some of those properties.

Cold-in-place asphalt recycling is disclosed. A foamed asphalt may be produced by injecting water and optionally compressed air into a hot asphalt stream. A lubricating surfactant may be added to the hot asphalt stream to improve performance. The foamed asphalt may be mixed with reclaimed material to provide a uniformly coated paving material that can compacted to a desired density.

Asphalt emulsions, methods of forming asphalt emulsions, and composite pavement structures formed from the asphalt emulsions are provided herein. In an embodiment, an asphalt emulsion includes a base asphalt component, water, and an oxidized high density polyethylene. The base asphalt component is present in an amount of from about 15 to about 70 weight %, the water is present in an amount of at least about 25 weight %, and the oxidized high density polyethylene is present in an amount of from about 1 to about 20 weight %, where all amounts are based on the total weight of the asphalt emulsion. The oxidized high density polyethylene has an acid value of from about 5 to about 50 mgKOH/g. The asphalt emulsion is free of aggregate and other mineral materials.
