Monitoring system for a component in a cutting edge

A monitoring system that monitors at least one component of a cutting edge supported on an implement, the monitoring system comprising a monitor controller; at least one sensor in sensing communication with the at least one component, the at least one sensor configured to monitor wear of the at least one component; wherein the at least one sensor is connected to the monitor controller to communicate a sensor signal indicative of the wear of the at least one component to the monitor controller; the monitor controller including an output, wherein upon receiving a selected signal from the at least one sensor, the monitor controller is configured to communicate an alert via the output.

Central climbing protection for rail vehicles with additional functions

A rail vehicle includes a chassis, a vehicle structure and a support unit disposed at the end face of the rail vehicle. The vehicle is comparatively lightweight and economical and can also advantageously perform other tasks in addition to supporting a track reamer. The support unit includes a plateau section which is part of the vehicle structure and includes a climbing protection device on its end face and a track reamer holder for supporting a track reamer. The track reamer holder is disposed below the plateau section and is rigidly secured thereto.

A device for removing obstacles from a travel path of a vehicle includes clearing blades being mutually aligned in the form of a wedge and each having a wedge tip end facing the other clearing blade and a free end facing away from the wedge tip end. A fastening device or fastener fastens the device to the vehicle and a device for reducing a pileup generated by the clearing blades reduces pressure fluctuations at the vehicle tip without the need for providing the clearing blades with passages, apertures, or the like. The device for reducing the pileup has at least one vertical guide plate disposed in the vicinity or region of the free end of a clearing blade so that an air stream generated by the clearing blade flows past the vertical guide plate.

Rail vehicle comprising snow plow

A rail vehicle has a vehicle body supported in a sprung fashion on bogies. A snow plow has two blade plates that run to a point and a plow blade arranged vertically adjustably behind the blade plates. A projecting portion of the plow blade that projects downwards beyond a lower edge of the blade plates is adjustable. The blade plates rest with their lower edge on a base plate which forms a cutting edge that protrudes from the lower edge in the direction of travel. The snow plow is attached to an under frame of the vehicle body such that the base plate maintains a safety distance from the travel rails. The safety distance is predefined by a maximum spring compression of the vehicle body. The protruding portion of the plow blade is set as a function of the safety distance and of a wear of the wheels of the bogies.

Movable sand plow for locomotive

A moveable plow for a locomotive suitable for operating in sandy environments is provided. The moveable plow comprises a body and a wearable lip. The body forms a curl at its top edge along substantially the entire body width to channel the flow of sand outwardly. The lip is removably affixed to the body and contacts a rail. The moveable plow is attached to a bogie by a pneumatically operated height adjusting mechanism that can raise or lower the moveable plow. The moveable plow and rail define a sweep angle equal to or greater than an angle of repose of the sand in the surrounding environment.
