Self-expanding barrier having a mesh sheath
11560681 · 2023-01-24 ·

An article for use in damming or channeling surface water flow is comprised of a non-woven polymer fabric sleeve which is encased in a sheath made of polymeric mesh. The sleeve contains a water absorbent material. When water passes through the sheath and sleeve, the absorbent swells up, to change the barrier from a flattened article to a bulky shape article. Preferably, the sleeve is black or brown and the sheath is a mesh comprised of highly visible bright orange fibers; the sheath has a regular pattern of openings nominally equivalent in area to 4 to 5 mm diameter holes; and the sheath has about 25 to about 60 percent open area.

FLOOD BARRIER GROUND SEALING ARRANGEMENT

Embodiments herein relate to a ground sealing arrangement for a portable flood barrier further comprising a vertical wall. The ground sealing arrangement is arranged to be positioned on the ground. The ground sealing arrangement comprises a main sealing layer forming a main body of the ground sealing arrangement. The main sealing layer is impermeable to water. The ground sealing arrangement further comprises a bottom sealing layer arranged on a ground-facing underside of the main sealing layer. The bottom sealing layer is attached to the main sealing layer at a distance L from a peripheral edge of the main sealing layer which is most distal from the first edge of the ground sealing arrangement such that the bottom sealing layer has a free end extending from the point where the bottom sealing layer attaches to the main sealing layer towards the peripheral edge of the main sealing layer, and comprises a highly flexible and/or glutinous material which is stretchable and sticks to the ground when the material is soaked with water

A geotextile tube includes a bag unit, an extending unit, a main stitch seam, and two auxiliary stitch seams. The bag unit includes a tubular wall and an end wall cooperatively defining a filling space. The extending unit includes two extending parts respectively extending from opposite lateral sides of the end wall and each defining a buffering space. The main stitch seam extends from one of the extending parts to the other one of the extending parts for sealing the filling space. The auxiliary stitch seams intersect the main stitch seam, and are respectively disposed at the lateral sides of the end wall such that the end wall is substantially flat. Each auxiliary stitch seam separates an adjacent buffering space from the filling space.

PORTABLE WATER INFLATABLE BARRIER WITH WATER INFLATABLE BASE
20170284046 · 2017-10-05 ·

A portable, water-filled barrier system includes a plurality of water-fillable modules, each module being internally divided into cells that emulates a section of a sandbag dike or wall. Adjacent modules are interconnected by fastening mechanisms, such as loops attached to fronts or sides of the modules and connected by straps or clamps. Automatic valves can seal openings between the filled cells, so that a punctured cell will not cause cells below and behind to deflate. In embodiments, the barrier can be initially filled with air, positioned, and then filled with water while the air escapes through a pressure valve. A manifold can be used to simultaneously fill a plurality of cells. A flexible sheet can be installed beneath and in front of the assembled barrier so as to inhibit leakage of water under or between the cells.

Device for the damming of a liquid in a liquid basin
09745708 · 2017-08-29 · ·

A device for the damming of a liquid in a liquid basin including a tubular enclosure suitable for arrangement at an edge of the liquid basin, wherein a longitudinal direction of the tubular enclosure extends substantially parallel to the edge, wherein the enclosure encloses a liquid-fillable space, wherein the enclosure, at an exterior side thereof, facing the liquid basin, is provided with a skirt for being supported by a sloping underground of the liquid basin, seen from the edge, wherein the support during use is carried out in such a way, that a contact surface present between the skirt and the underground remains substantially free from liquid from the liquid basin, wherein the enclosure, near the lower side of the side during use facing the liquid basin, is provided with one or more filling openings, arranged above the skirt, that during use create an open liquid connection between the space and the liquid in the liquid basin.

Methods, Systems, and Kits for Building Interlocking Seawalls
20220042306 · 2022-02-10 ·

This disclosure provides methods, systems, and kits for building seawalls using mechanically interlocking blocks. The interlocking blocks have interiors that can be filled with sand, gravel, or cementitious material after formation of a wall. The interlocking blocks that can be connected on any side to form a structure, wall, foundation, floor, building, flotation device, gardening structure, or toy. The interlocking blocks typically comprise center openings and connecting openings on each side and can be connected with hardware through the connecting openings. The center openings allow for materials such as pipes, wires, conduit, and rebar to pass through interlocked blocks. Connected blocks can also be filled with fortifying material to strengthen the structure. Sides of connected blocks can be covered with faceplates to direct flow of fortifying material and aid in the creation of desired configurations. Also provided are connectors for connecting sides of the interlocking blocks.
