Plumbing drain trap treatment and method of use

A plumbing drain trap treatment mixture is disclosed. The mixture is poured into a plumbing drain trap to form a layer of the mixture that floats on top of the water in the trap. The mixture layer forms a boundary to prevent evaporation of the water from the trap, thereby maintaining the water in the trap to prevent sewer gas infiltration and pest infiltration to the building. The anti-pest and antimicrobial properties of the mixture may serve to further prevent migration of pests from the sewage drain beyond the trap through the plumbing trap and into the building and/or to protect the barrier itself from microbial infestation. A method of use of a treatment for a plumbing drain trap is also disclosed.

Passage of gas between the inlet opening and the drainage opening can be prevented by filling the closure section with a liquid. The drainage device further includes an actuating means and a vent opening. In a rest position, the actuating means closes the vent opening. In an activation position, the actuating means releases the vent opening. In the activation position, a gas passage between the drainage opening and the vent opening is allowed. The fitting includes a body (52) with a generally open fluid collection interior area (56). The body of the heat exchange fitting is positioned in a central fluid path that includes a body inlet (58) and a body outlet (60). A plurality of fluid stream fitting openings (76) in the body are connectable to fluid streams of fluids having different densities delivered from water discharge devices such as an autoclave, a steam sterilizer in the steam cooler. The fluid streams of the fluids having different densities collected in fluid communication in the fluid collection interior area may undergo heat exchange prior to discharge from the body outlet.

Flat trap

A trap is formed from two instances of a standard part, the ninety degree elbow, and a two-part ninety degree elbow that has a cross-section that runs from circular at the upstream spigot to ovoid at the juncture of the two parts back to circular at the downstream hub. All of the rules that bind trap design in building codes can still be accommodated in this trap architecture. Moreover, the ability of the critical flattened elbow part to be formed from two plastic parts with standard line-of-draw cores reduces entry cost of fabrication. Access to the interior of the parts also allows for novel internal coating strategies. Most importantly for installation, the height of whole trap is reduced by squishing the trap diameter to a degree that a significant drop in trap height is achieved. This decrease in trap height can be sufficient to allow the trap to be accommodated in the reduced height of a vertical space between an underlying ceiling and the underside of the lowered subfloor.
