ROOF SHINGLE INSERT FOR ELIMINATING AND PREVENTING ALGAE, MOSS, OR LICHEN GROWTH ON A ROOF
A roof shingle insert includes a top side; a bottom side; an upper edge; a lower edge; and openings. The lower edge includes an integral spacing member. The integral spacing member is configured to raise the lower edge above a roof shingle and is configured to form a gap between the bottom side of the roof shingle insert and a roof shingle.

Reduced weight, multi-layer roofing shingles and methods for installing them
One aspect of the disclosure is roofing shingle including a shim layer having a top surface, a first side edge, and a second side edge positioned opposite the first side edge. The roofing shingle also includes a top shingle layer at least partially laminated to the top surface of the shim layer, where the top shingle layer includes a first side edge offset a sidelap distance from the first side edge of the shim layer such that a side portion of the top surface of the shim layer is exposed, and a second side edge extending beyond the second side edge of the shim layer so as to overlap the second side edge of the shim layer by the sidelap distance.

COATINGS FOR ROOFING MATERIALS AND RELATED METHODS
Some embodiments relate to a roofing material. The roofing material may comprise, consist of, or consist essentially of a substrate and a coating on the substrate. In some embodiments, the coating may comprise, consist of, or consist essentially of a polymer blend and at least one filler. In some embodiments, the polymer blend may comprise, consist of, or consist essentially of at least one hydrocarbon oil, at least one resin, at least one polymer, or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, the at least one hydrocarbon oil, the at least one resin, the at least one polymer, or any combination thereof may be present in an amount or in amounts sufficient to result in the polymer blend or the coating having a select softening point, a select viscosity, or any combination thereof.
