Roofing and wall systems and batten-equipped, foil-laminated, internally drainable insulation panels for same
Insulation panels for wall construction and roofing installation are characterized by inlaid battens in outer faces thereof by which multiple layers of insulation can be installed without thermal bridging. Second and any subsequent layers are each fastened only to the battens of the immediately underlying layer, without fully penetrating therethrough to the roof deck, building wrap or other substrate. Laminated facers of perforated character allow migration of moisture to and from a foam core of the panel, while internal channels and internal slots beneath the facer enable drainage/drying of excess moisture without material degradation of the inlaid battens. Additional drainage space within each layer is provided at inter-panel connections, where tongue and groove connections are configured to leave such drainage space open between the tongue and groove.
Triangular standing seam metal roof panel and cover system
A standing seam metal panel for a roof cover system has upstanding symmetrical sides defining lateral edges. A trough extends between the lateral edges. Each lateral edge comprises an angled portion, a vertical portion, and first and second horizontal portions. The angled portion extends upward and outward from the trough. The vertical portion extends upward from the angled portion and generally perpendicular to the trough. The first horizontal portion extends inward from the vertical portion and generally parallel to the trough. The second horizontal portion extends above, outward from, and generally parallel to the first horizontal portion. The lateral edges are formed by bends in the metal panel that define the portions of the lateral edges. The lateral edges are adapted to form a sidelap with a lateral edge of an adjacent the metal panel in the cover system. The sidelap is formed on panel clips of the cover system.
Roofing systems and roofing boards with non-halogenated fire retardant
According to one embodiment, a halogen free roof system is described. The roof system includes a structural deck that is positioned above joists or other support members. Polyisocyanurate foam insulation is positioned atop the structural deck. The polyisocyanurate foam insulation has an isocyanate index greater than 200 and includes a polyisocyanurate core having a halogen free fire retardant. A water proof membrane is positioned atop the polyisocyanurate foam insulation. The polyisocyanurate core is able to form a sufficiently stable char when exposed to flame conditions such that the polyisocyanurate core is able to pass the ASTM E-84 test.
Insulation plate placement tool and method of operation thereof
A hand tool for placing a single insulation plate at one time atop an insulation board or a vapor barrier or membrane on a flat or low slope roof. The hand tool has a flexible member that carries a releasable connector having a grip strength that releasably retains one insulation plate. The flexible member flexes between a neutral first position and a flexed second position. When the flexible member is flexed towards the second position, the releasable connector releases the insulation plate to place the insulation plate in a desired location atop the insulation board or vapor barrier on the flat or low slope roof.
Foam boards including non-halogenated fire retardants
According to one embodiment, a polyisocyanurate foam board is described. The foam board includes a polyisocyanurate core that is produced from: an isocyanate, a polyol, and a phosphorous containing non-halogenated fire retardant. The foam board also includes a facer material that is applied to at least one surface of the polyisocyanurate core. The polyisocyanurate core has an isocyanate index greater than about 200 and is able to forms a sufficiently stable char when exposed to flame conditions to enable the polyisocyanurate core to pass the ASTM E-84 test. The foam board has an initial R-value of at least 6.40 and exhibits an ASTM E1354-11b test performance that is equivalent with or better than a similar foam board having a halogenated fire retardant, such as tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate (TCPP).
GYPSUM PANELS, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Gypsum panels, methods for their manufacture, and systems and methods for monitoring environmental conditions with such panels are provided herein. The panels include a gypsum core having a first surface and an opposed second surface, a first facer material associated with the first surface of the gypsum core, and an environmental sensor assembly associated with the gypsum panel and configured to detect an environmental condition of the gypsum panel and wirelessly communicate data on the environmental condition to a reader.
Insulation board with improved performance
A roof assembly, having: a roof deck; an insulation board assembly mounted onto the roof deck; and a roofing membrane adhered onto the insulation board assembly, wherein the insulation board assembly comprises: a foam insulation board, a woven top facer on a top side of the foam insulation board, and a woven bottom facer on a bottom side of the foam insulation board.
THERMAL AND/OR ACOUSTIC INSULATION SYSTEM AS WATERPROOFING FOR A FLAT OR A FLAT INCLINED ROOF OF A BUILDING AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A THERMAL AND/OR ACOUSTIC INSULATION SYSTEM AS WATERPROOFING
The disclosure relates to a thermal and/or acoustic insulation system as waterproofing for a flat or flat inclined outside surface of a building, especially for a flat roof or a flat inclined roof, consisting of at least one insulation element made of mineral wool, preferably made of stone wool, and having a major surface, and a lining element consisting of at least a first layer made of lining material and a second layer made of a glue activatable by heat and oriented to the major surface of the insulation element, whereby the major surface of the insulation element is free of protrusions, especially flights, and cavities thereby being planar and whereby the area connection between the insulation element and the lining element is at least 70%, preferably at least 80% of the major surface area of the insulation element.
FOAM INSULATION WITH IMPROVED LOW TEMPERATURE PROPERTIES USING POLYOL ADDITIVES
A polyisocyanurate foam insulation product is produced from an isocyanate component and a polyol-containing component including a blowing agent. The polyol-containing component comprises one or more polyols, a fire retardant, and a hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive effective to increase the R-value per inch of the insulation product as measured at 40° F., as compared with an otherwise-identical formulation lacking the hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additive. The polyisocyanurate foam insulation product may have an R-value per inch of at least 6.0 when measured at 40° F. and may have an R-value per inch of at least 5.5 when measured at 25° F. Suitable hydroxyl-containing low-molecular-weight additives may include triethanolamine, trimethylolpropane, N-methyldiethanolamine, 1,4 butanediol, or another suitable multi-functional alcohol or combination of multi-functional alcohols.
