Also disclosed is a method for installing the self-sealing fastener for attachment of roofing materials to an underlying roof deck with the penetrations areas or holes created by the fasteners being substantially sealed against water penetration.

A roofing fastener has an anchor plate, a staple, and a hollow shank extending perpendicularly away from the anchor plate. The staple is insertable within the hollow shank, and one or more free ends of the staple is extendable from an opening in a free end of the hollow shank. The anchor plate has a raised bonding surface with adhesive and heat sinks dispersed thereabout. The anchor plate and hollow shank may be separable or a single connected structure. In operation, the roofing fastener is inserted within a substructure about the hollow shank, such that the anchor plate rests atop an upper surface of the substructure. The staple is then depressed within the hollow shank such that one or more free ends of the staple penetrate the substructure at an angle relative to the hollow shank. A single-ply membrane is welded to the anchor plate via the adhesive.

SEALED FASTENER CAP AND RELATED METHOD OF MANUFACTURE

A fastener cap system can include a rigid cap and a sealing member which forms a liquid barrier so moisture is impaired from entering a space under the rigid cap and/or around a fastener installed through it. The sealing member can include a central seal disposed on an upper surface of the cap, the seal extending beyond a head of a fastener, which extends through the cap and sealing member, so that moisture is impaired from entering the cap under the head. The sealing member can be above and below respective lowermost and uppermost cap surfaces so the cap system can be fed cleanly and efficiently through a cap feeder during installation via a tool. The sealing member, which can have a higher coefficient of friction than the rigid cap, thereby does not drag along a cap feeder and cause feeding issues. Related methods of manufacture and use are provided.

The internal reservoir includes an upper cavity and a lower cavity. The upper cavity is bound within the socket. The lower cavity continuously encircles the socket and extends both below the socket and between the socket and the outer perimeter structure.

The membrane creates a dead zone that collects or prevents ice and water from backing up from the roof valley over the metal valley, over the edge of the metal valley, and in between the ice and water shield and the shingles.

In embodiments, the fastener systems can include a plate having first and second surfaces with an aperture extending between the first surface of the plate and the second surface of the plate and configured to receive a fastener therein. A cover portion is provided to substantially enclose the first end of the aperture so as to cover a head of the fastener received within the aperture and protect the fastener from impacts due to objects striking the roof structure.
