A system comprising a first baseboard element, a second baseboard element, and a spline configured to couple with the first baseboard element and the second baseboard element. A system for crown molding that enables safely incorporating electrical and communications cabling within crown molding by creating one or more protected paths which inherently prevent overly sharp bends in crown molding corners and by mitigating damage from penetrating punctures through a decorated face designed to fracture when improperly penetrated by a screw or nail, and enables the secure installation of hardware either concealed within the molding or securely and favorably positioned through the decorative face to view or sense a room, and enables additional cable capacity that is concealed within a light reflector to increase lighting efficacy as well as power and data delivery capacity.

A trim piece for sealing a work surface including a body having a first side, a second side, and a span disposed between the first side and the second side, wherein the first side and the second side are joined at a junction defining an angle between the first side and the second side of between 80 degrees and 100 degrees, a topcap is affixed to the span of the body, wherein the topcap includes a left side having a first wing and a right side having a second wing, an adhesive is bonded to the first side of the body and an aperture is disposed within the body.

Wall bases and methods for utilizing the same are provided. A rear surface of the wall base is configured to be secured to an adjacent forward surface of a wall. An extension member extends outward and downward from the base member, and a protrusion extends downward from the extension member. A channel for sealant is defined, at least in part, by the extension member and the protrusion. The protrusion may be separately formed from the extension member and base member.

A baseboard corner and a method of use thereof for joining adjacent baseboard pieces at the corner of wall surfaces. The baseboard corner includes a trim member and a base member which is integral to the trim member. The trim member can flush mount with the intersection wall surfaces and surfaces of the adjacent baseboard pieces. The base member forms a left bracket and a right bracket for receiving the adjacent baseboard pieces. The baseboard corner eliminates the need for making mitered joints at the intersection of walls.

An elongated structural barrier is provided including a base, a first panel extending upward from the base, a first sealer wall extending downward and transversely to the base, a second panel joined with the first panel and extending upwardly, a lower wedge extending upward from the base adjacent the first sealer wall, and a core compartment bounded by the lower wedge and the panels, with an open face defined above the lower wedge and offering a view into the core compartment. The lower wedge can include a flange to produce a first cavity of the compartment, in which an intumescent core can be positioned and configured to expand into a second cavity of the compartment when it swells. A second flange can oppose the first flange to further secure the core in the first cavity, and can form a bloom gap therebetween. A related method of use also is provided.
