Apparatuses and methods for setting posts of columns in to the ground are provided. Expandable metals in response to hydrolysis that tend to fill in spaces and cavities, even over time, which is a useful feature when setting columns into the ground. A hydrolyzing fluid can be supplied, as necessary, to cause the hydrolysis of the expanding metal, or supplied by ground water. Upon hydrolysis, the expanding metal expands around the column to adhere and grip the column securely, while the metal may also expand outwardly to increase cross-sectional bulk lending to a more overall stabilization of a set column. The expandable metal may be provided as a solid sleeve drivable into the ground with a post, as an auger that can be used to turn a column into the ground or, as a rod that can be driven through the interior of a column into the ground.

Provide herein is a deer rub or lure and a method of luring a deer to a selected area. The deer rub or lure has a trunk or signpost with at least one aperture extending therein. A flexible rod extends into at least one of the apertures. Each of the flexible rods extends from the trunk or signpost at an angle between 90° and 180°. A licking branch is attached to the flexible rod. A flexible support extends from a lower end of the trunk or signpost, and the support is configured to flexibly support the trunk or signpost in a substantially vertical orientation.

An umbrella pole protecting device is a protective sleeve for the lower pole section of a pool-side umbrella. In other words, the device is a protective sleeve that covers the lower pole section of an umbrella to prevent potential contact of water. Further, the device includes a gasket for providing a water-proof seal between the sleeve and the pole section of the umbrella. A socket for receiving a post and a method to make the socket is disclosed. The socket is formed of a multitude of socket wall parts that comprise at least one vertical bend forming a corner, and a flange formed along one vertical side of the wall. The socket wall parts are joined together by joining a flange of one wall part to a vertical side without a flange of the neighboring wall part, thus forming a socket where the flanges are pointing toward the interior of the socket and the outer surface of the socket is continuous.

An anchor system and method for fixating a post or pole to the ground. A hollow tubular member (e.g., a square-shaped one-piece metal (or other material) Fence Post Holder), that is fixed to the ground by first forcing (e.g., hammering) pointed sections on one end into the ground and then guiding metal rebars through the center of the Fence Post Holder into the ground; eliminating any rotation of the Fence Post Holder. A horizontal plate and/or tube-like and/or box-like sections may be incorporated to provide additional stability.

A stake consists of two planar panels joined on a longitudinal axis and angularly disposed with respect to one another. Lower portions of the panels converge to a tip on the axis, and an axial tang is formed at the top of the stake. An inwardly directed flange is formed near the top of each panel, the flanges being disposed substantially in a common plane, generally perpendicular to the panels. The present invention provides methods and systems for a retainer apparatus that includes a scoop having an exterior surface and an interior surface with a central opening and a predetermined length. A retention device has a base with a length greater than the length of the central opening of the scoop and a flange portion extends upwardly from the base portion and contains at least one opening.

A bird screen is provided having a post assembly and a feeder assembly. The post assembly has a ground spike and a first support pipe is disposed internal to the ground spike. A second support pipe is disposed in the first support pipe and the second support pipe has a locking collar that supports the bird feeder assembly. The bird feeder assembly has a frame that is supported by the locking collar. The second support pipe extends through the frame and a screen and a bird feeder cover and into a birdfeeder to secure the birdfeeder in place. The feeder assembly has first, second, third and fourth support posts, and has first, second, third and fourth feeder sidewalls at least one of which is connected to the frame with hinges and is movable between up and down positions. In another embodiment the bird screen includes a barrier assembly.
