A method for treating water in a spa or a hot tub includes, for example, suspending a water treatment dispenser from an upper end of a filter cartridge disposed in a skimmer of the spa or the hot tub. The return plumbing includes a second high point and a return outlet. The return plumbing is arranged to output water via the second high point and the return outlet.

A gutter drain includes a hopper with a convex bottom adjustably mated to a socket in the top of a drain tube. The socket is sized and shaped as a negative impression of the convex bottom, except that the depth of the socket is less than the depth of the convex bottom. A downtube from the drain tube is sized to fit into and mate with a vertical drain pipe. The hopper may be positioned and angled flush with a pitched surface of a gutter.

In an operative position suitable for cleaning the device is arranged to extend generally immersed in the water and in a general upright orientation. The device further has an upper opening that in the operative position is arranged to be generally flush with the upper surface of the water and a propeller arranged to rotate about axis X and located at a lower region of the device that is arranged to form a downward flow that urges water to enter the device via the upper opening of the device.
