Sliding seismic isolator
A sliding seismic isolator includes a first plate attached to a building support, and an elongate element extending from the first plate. The seismic isolator also includes a second plate and a low-friction layer positioned between the first and second plates, the low-friction layer allowing the first and second plates to move freely relative to one another along a horizontal plane. The seismic isolator also includes a lower support member attached to the second plate, with a biasing arrangement, such as at least one spring member or at least one engineered elastomeric element, which can include one or more silicon inserts, positioned within the lower support member. The elongate element extends from the first plate at least partially into the lower support member and movement of the elongate element is influenced or controlled by the biasing arrangement.
SEISMIC ISOLATION STRUCTURE USING ROPE FOUNDATION
A seismic isolation structure using a rope foundation of the present invention is to separate and support an object from a ground at the same time. The seismic isolation structure may include a base positioned on the ground and provided with an accommodating space with an opened upper portion and two or more rope supporters spaced apart around an entrance of the accommodating space, a support including a stage for supporting an object, and a column protruding downward from the stage and positioned in the accommodation space, and ropes connecting the rope supporter and the lower part of the column to support the support to be spaced apart from the base.
Damper unit for a tower structure
The present invention relates to a damper unit for damping oscillations of a tower structure when secured thereto, the damper unit comprising a damper unit structure adapted for attachment to the tower structure, a pendulum structure, a suspension arrangement for suspending the pendulum structure from the damper unit structure such that the pendulum structure is allowed to displace from a neutral position for the pendulum structure, the suspension arrangement comprising one or more wires for suspending the pendulum structure, a sensor adapted for measuring oscillations of the tower structure, and tuning means configured for adjusting the natural frequency of the suspended pendulum structure in response to measured oscillations of the tower structure. The present invention further relates to an associated method.
Damper position-limiting device, tower and wind turbine
A damper position-limiting device is provided, which is mounted in a tower to limit the swing amplitude of a damper installed in the tower. The damper position-limiting device includes at least one web and a position-limiting ring. The web is provided with a mounting hole and at least one stress relief hole. A first side wall of the web has a first specified length along a circumferential direction of the inner wall of the tower, and is connected to the inner wall of the tower. The position-limiting ring is positioned within the mounting hole and connected to the mounting hole and is configured to accommodate an impacting plate of the damper.
Function-Recoverable Prefabricated Seismic Shear Wall Structure
A novel function-recoverable prefabricated seismic shear wall structure with replaceable components, which includes main structural components, connecting components and replaceable components. All components are connected by bolts or pins. The connections can provide sufficient strength to effectively connect adjacent upper and lower wall panels, or wall panel and coupling beam, together. The replaceable components are installed in the bottom region of the wall and coupling beams, which provide sufficient bearing capacity and stiffness for the building structure under service loads and dissipate seismic energy under the earthquake. The damage concentrates on the replaceable components which could be easily replaced after a strong earthquake so that the function of the building structure could be quickly restored. In addition, the replaceable components with different energy-dissipation mechanisms facilitate the shear wall structure to have multiple seismic fortification lines, and improve the seismic performance of the building structure.
Tower vibration damper
The present invention relates to a tower damper adapted to be mounted in a wind turbine tower, the tower damper comprising a pendulum structure adapted to be suspended in the wind turbine tower; a plurality of springs arranged to dampen movements of the pendulum structure; a suspension arrangement for suspending the pendulum structure; and a chamber holding a damping liquid into which damping liquid the pendulum structure is at least partly immersed. The present invention further relates to a wind turbine comprising a tower damper.
Method of controlling pressure variation in working fluids in a fluid circuit undergoing working pressure variations
Described herein is a fluid circuit device. The device incorporates at least one pressure balancing valve located between at least two fluid volumes that can be in a pressure differential arrangement wherein the at least one pressure balancing valve acts to address a pressure differential by opening a fluid volume or volumes to a third pressure equalising volume. In use, the fluid circuit device may in one embodiment be used in an energy absorbtion apparatus.
Adjustable cladding for mitigating wind-induced vibration of high-rise structures
A system, device and method for reducing wind-induced vibration using cladding includes one or more movable panels attached to an outer façade of a high-rise building, skyscraper or any other structure subject to wind-induced vibration.
CONSTRUCTION STEEL PLATFORM SYSTEM USING TUNED LIQUID DAMPER (TLD) AND TUNED MASS DAMPER (TMD) FOR COMPOSITE TUNED DAMPING
A construction steel platform system using a tuned liquid damper (TLD) and a tuned mass damper (TMD) for composite tuned damping is provided. According to the construction steel platform system using a TLD and a TMD for composite tuned damping, a composite damper is composed of the TLD and the TMD overlapping each other, and a construction steel platform is placed above the double dampers. By adjusting a hole diameter of a partition plate in the TLD, a liquid level in a water tank, a stiffness of a spring at an edge of a friction support and mass of materials of a top of the steel platform, the whole steel platform system can achieve composite tuned damping. The TLD and the TMD can be flexibly combined in series or in parallel according to requirements of actual wind and earthquake loads.
Tuned liquid damper with a membrane liquid-gas interface
A tuned liquid damper, including a first outer housing having two ends, the first end being open to the atmosphere and the second end being connected by a conduit to a gas-filled second outer housing. The conduit may be adapted to allow gas flow between the second end and the second outer housing. The tuned liquid damper may also include first and second membranes, each attached to the inside of the first outer housing, and a sealed compartment within the first outer housing defined by the first and second membranes. The sealed compartment may be at least partially filled with a liquid, which prevents gas flow through the first outer housing from the first end to the second end.
