Method and system for shielding against natural disasters, terror acts and war hazards
It is provided an underground structure, usable at least as a shelter, having a light weight substantially cylindrical portion, of a cylindrical casing having a weight to area ratio in the range of 8 to 30 kg/m2. The casing has a strength level and an impermeability level high enough for serving as part a sealable underground liquid storage tank and at least one sealable opening connecting it to external spaces. The cylindrical portion includes openings for entering and exiting the interior of the portion, and passageways communicate the structure with outside spaces. The surrounding ground provides a geo-thermal reservoir which is used to regulate by a flowing fluid the temperature of the shelter space, modules inside the shelter or above ground structures. The structure includes provisions for receiving of variety of auxiliary systems like an air-treatment system, communication system water and power supply.

Tunnel Connector for an In-Ground Storm Shelter
A tunnel connector for an in-ground storm shelter which allows inhabitants to enter the in-ground storm shelter from a trailer house without being exposed to external environmental factors. The tunnel connector includes a U-shaped enclosure wall, a staircase, a first lateral wall, and a second lateral wall. The first lateral wall and the second lateral wall are connected perpendicular to the staircase across each other to provide lateral protection. The U-shaped enclosure wall includes a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and an interconnecting sidewall. The interconnecting sidewall is terminally connected in between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The first lateral wall is adjacently connected to the first sidewall, opposite the interconnecting sidewall. Similarly, the second lateral wall is adjacently connected to the second sidewall, opposite the interconnecting sidewall. The tunnel connector is installed in between a floorboard of the trailer house and the in-ground storm shelter.
UTILITY VAULT SUPPORT BAR SNAP FEATURE
A vault system is provided that secures a brace to the underside of a vault lid to improve the performance of the lid when the lid is subject to external loads. The vault has guiding features to receive a brace and place the brace in a particular position. Then, a vault lid is pressed into the vault, and tabs on the vault lid deflect into receiving portions on the ends of the brace to secure the brace to the vault lid. The resulting vault lid is reinforced with a brace. In some embodiments, the guiding feature comprises a rib in a recess in the brace, and in various embodiments, the tabs have an arm and a hook disposed on a distal end of the arm. The tab arms deflect to fit around the end of the brace, then an undercut on the hook secures the brace to the lid.

FIRE RESISTANT SHELTER
A fire resistant shelter is provided which controls a temperature of an underground evacuation space in case of a long-lasting fire. A fire resistant shelter comprises a shelter main body, a water supply device, a heat insulating housing, and a drain device. The shelter main body is made of concrete having a thickness of 30 cm and is provided with an evacuation space therein. When a fire breaks out, an evacuee escapes to the evacuation space, doses an underground door, and subsequently opens a valve of a water supply pipe through a remote operation from inside the evacuation space. This supplies water to a heat-insulating space. When water being stored up to a level corresponding to the top end of the evacuation space is confirmed, the supply of the water is stopped. At that time, the water remains at a predetermined level in a ceiling water tank.

Storm avoiding buildings and structures
A building sheltering structure is configured to facilitate the shielding of domicile or building into an underground foundation before an emergency environmental condition arises. The foundation includes a cover plate and/or a second plate that translate horizontally to occlude the at least one domicile upon retraction into a secure cavity of the foundation by a lift assembly in the foundation cavity. The cover plate and second plate offer optimal protection to the domicile thereunder for various extreme conditions. Mounted atop the lift assembly, the at least one domicile can be fully retracted into the foundation cavity and completely shielded. The operation of the lift assembly is commanded and powered by a supply system, of which a processor facilitates emergency warnings and panic transmissions to signal for help. Further, a plurality of solar panels mounted atop the at least one domicile keeps the system charged for the use in emergency.
