Access control system and method

A lock for securing a door is provided, the lock includes a housing configured to be mounted on a door, a locking member movable between locked and unlocked positions, a core with a keyway and configured to turn relative to the housing to cause the locking member to move between the locked and unlocked positions, at least one optical source configured to emit an electromagnetic radiation signal at an object in the keyway, at least one optical detector configured to detect at least a portion of the electromagnetic radiation signal, a memory configured to store at least one authorized key characteristic, a motor configured to control movement of the locking member between locked and unlocked positions, and a processor that determines at least one sensed characteristic of the object in the keyway based at least in part on the electromagnetic radiation signal.

Security lock

A security lock, having a lock tongue, a key cylinder (20), and a key (30). The key cylinder (20) has a main body (21), a cover (22), and a connection assembly (40). The main body (21) has a channel (24). An electronic control assembly (50) and a mechanical control assembly (60) controlling the connection assembly (40) are provided within the main body (21). The key (30) has an elongate portion (31) and a grip portion (32). A power supply and a control chip are provided within the grip portion (32). The elongate portion (31) has bitting cuts (33) and a first contact member (34) connecting to the control chip. During an unlock operation, the key (30) is inserted into the channel (24), the first contact member (34) is communicatively connected to the electronic control assembly (50), and the bitting cuts (33) press against the mechanical control assembly (60).

A lock and method for locking wherein the lock includes a cylindrical housing that houses at least a replaceable battery, a lock mechanism, an electronic circuit powered by the replaceable battery, the electronic circuit being configured to authenticate a user and electro-mechanically actuate the lock mechanism of the lock responsive to being activated, and a rotor coupled to the lock mechanism of the lock, the rotor being powered by the replaceable battery and configured to situate the lock mechanism based on a lock state of the lock, and a handle situated outside the cylindrical housing on a front side of the cylindrical housing, the handle being coupled to the lock mechanism, the handle being configured to activate the lock responsive to the user moving the handle.

ELECTRONIC LOCKING DEVICE

An electromagnetic locking device is disclosed including a barrel and a plug which are able to move relative to one another when in an unlocked condition. A locking mechanism, within the locking device, includes a pair of shuttles which include permanent magnets which are caused to move in opposite directions by an electromagnet to push the shuttles into respective recesses so as to not straddle the junction between the plug and barrel. Also forming part of the locking device are one or more jammer mechanisms which include ferromagnetic jammers which are drawn into recesses when under the influence of external magnets. If a strong external magnet is used to draw the shuttles into the recesses therefore not straddling the recesses, the jammers are drawn into the recesses and straddle that junction thereby maintaining the locked condition.

Electronic locking device

An electronic locking device including a cylinder and a plug located in the cylinder. Within the plug is a solenoid with a pair of shuttles which move in opposite directions. A control processor controls the solenoids activating the shuttles when connected to the correct key. Blocking elements for each shuttle are inserted through the cylinder and into annular channels in the plug. The blocking elements receive and allow linear movement of the shuttles but prevent their rotation within the annular channels. In a locked condition the shuttles are contained only partially within the annular channels thereby preventing rotation of the plug within the cylinder but in an unlocked condition the shuttles are contained within the annular channels thereby allowing rotation of the plug. The plug also includes a weakness defining a point at which it will break upon application of excessive force.

Electro-mechanical lock core

An interchangeable electro-mechanical lock core for use with a lock device having a locked state and an unlocked state is disclosed. The interchangeable electromechanical lock core may include a moveable plug having a first position relative to a lock core body which corresponds to the lock device being in the locked state and a second position relative to a lock core body which corresponds to the lock device being in the unlocked state.

Security lock

The elongate portion (31) has bitting cuts (33) and a first contact member (34) connecting to the control chip. During an unlock operation, the key (30) is inserted into the channel (24), the first contact member (34) is communicatively connected to the electronic control assembly (50), and the bitting cuts (33) press against the mechanical control assembly (60).

ELECTRO-MECHANICAL LOCK CORE

An interchangeable electro-mechanical lock core for use with a lock device having a locked state and an unlocked state is disclosed. The interchangeable electromechanical lock core may include a moveable plug having a first position relative to a lock core body which corresponds to the lock device being in the locked state and a second position relative to a lock core body which corresponds to the lock device being in the unlocked state.
