TAMPER RESISTANT GRAVITY LATCH
20240026711 · 2024-01-25 ·

An apparatus (2100), including: a hasp (2104) configured to retain a staple therein when in an engaged position (2106); an actuator (2110) that is biased toward a locking position (2112) configured to lock the hasp in the engaged position, where once the hasp is moved into the engaged position the actuator can reach the locking position; an actuator weight (2130) configured to move under the influence of gravity once the apparatus is tilted from an upright orientation by more than an actuator weight threshold amount and to disengage the actuator from the hasp upon reaching an unlocking position (2136) with sufficient force; and a time delay lock assembly (2150) configured to be initiated when the apparatus is tilted from the upright orientation by a time delay lock threshold amount of tilt and configured to prevent movement of the actuator weight only after an initiation and a time delay.

Gravity latch

A top pull gravity latch device to selectively secure a gate in a closed position to block the opening or portal in a fence, wall or other barrier comprising a latch assembly including a latch actuator assembly, intermediate pull actuator assembly and pivotal latch member each movable between a first and second position and a keeper assembly including a striker pin to selectively engage the pivotal latch member to move the pivotal latch member from the first to second position when the keeper assembly is moved from the second to first position and back to the first position wherein the gate is securely closed when the latch actuator assembly, intermediate pull actuator assembly, pivot latch member of the latch assembly and the striker pin of the keeper assembly are all in the first position and wherein the intermediate pull actuator assembly is moved from the first to second position to move the pivotal latch member from the first to second position clearing the striker pin of the keeper assembly to be moved from the first to second position to allow the gate to be opened.

Locking device for waste container

The present invention generally relates to a locking device for waste containers, particularly residential or commercial waste containers. In particular, the invention provides a waste container locking device which keeps the container closed when a sudden jerk or jarring, such as by ground impact, is applied on the container, so that the container does not open when it is accidentally knocked over, but may be opened when tipped during dumping.

The present invention generally relates to locking devices for waste containers, particularly residential or commercial waste containers. The present invention also relates to a waste container having a locking device which keeps the container closed when a sudden jerking or jarring, such as ground impact, is applied on the container, but allows the container to be opened during the dumping or tipping process. The locking device contains an impact detecting paddle or rolling member to provide a mechanical impact sensor that can detect whether the container has been unintendedly tipped over in the forward direction or whether it is being tipped over, such as for dumping.

Latch and release mechanisms for waste containers

A latch is provided for latching and automatically unlatching a lid from a waste container. The latch mechanism includes a release weight that moves responsive to gravity in a housing from a first position to a second position to cause the latch to disengage from a striker when the latch is rotated to a dump angular orientation. The latch includes a damper that controls movement of the release weight in the housing such that an amount of time for the release weight to move responsive to gravity from the first position to the second position is at least two times an amount of time the release weight would take to move responsive to gravity from the first position to the second position absent the effect of the damper.

GRAVITY-ACTUATED LATCH MECHANISM

A gravity-actuated latch mechanism is provided. The gravity-actuated latch mechanism may include a strike attached to a lid of a container and a latch body attached to a wall of the container. The latch body includes a housing and a catch accessible from outside of the housing, wherein the catch engages and disengages with the strike. The latch body includes a lever having a lever arm moveable between an engaged and disengaged position. The engaged position is engaged with the catch and the disengaged position is disengaged with the catch. The latch body also includes a latch actuation member such as a ball housed in an elongated passage within the housing. The lever arm of the lever extends into the elongate passage, allowing the latch actuation member to apply force to the lever arm to move the lever from the engaged to the disengaged position in response to tipping the container for dumping.

Locking device for a container

A locking device is provided, preferably for a container. The locking device keeps the lid of the container closed when the container is knocked over on its side, with a sudden jerking or jarring motion, such as by impact with the ground, to prevent spillage of its contents. The locking device, however, allows the lid to open when the waste container is tipped over, preferably in a forward direction, by a dumping operation.
