An opening/closing control device includes: a current detecting unit that detects a current that flows in a motor; a voltage detecting unit that detects a voltage to be supplied to the motor; a load calculating unit that calculates a load applied during the opening/closing operation of a window, according to the detected current and detected voltage; a trap detecting unit that detects a trap of an object, the trap being caused by the window, according to the calculated load; and a motor control unit that, if a trap is detected, reverses the rotation of the motor. The load calculating unit calculates a load in which a first load component proportional to the detected current and a second load component proportional to the angular acceleration of the rotation of the motor, the angular acceleration being approximated according to the detected current and detected voltage, are combined together.

A vehicle having powered door assist includes a plurality of powered doors, each powered door having an actuator for moving the door between closed and open door positions, and a plurality of sensors located on the vehicle for sensing objects proximate to the vehicle including one or more potential passengers expected to enter the vehicle and for sensing an obstacle within or proximate to a swing path of at least one of the plurality of powered doors. The vehicle also includes a controller determining an estimated weight of the one or more potential passengers, detecting expected height of the plurality of powered door with the estimated weight added to the vehicle, detecting height of a sensed obstacle within the swing path of one of the powered doors and determining whether the expected height of the one powered door will interfere with the sensed obstacle in the swing path.

The hinge assembly includes a hinge configured to guide the hood from the secured position to both of an open position or to a pedestrian deployment position relative to the vehicle body. An actuator moves the hood from the secured position to the pedestrian deployment position. A controller controls the actuator based at least in part on a characteristic of the pedestrian.

An opening and closing body control apparatus for a vehicle includes an assist control portion configured to detect an operation of an opening and closing body of the vehicle by an operator or a user and control voltage applied to a motor serving as a drive source which applies a drive force to the opening and closing body during the operation of the opening and closing body by the operator or the user. The assist control portion applies an assist voltage and an offset voltage alternately to the motor to operate an assist control for applying the drive force to the opening and closing body. The assist voltage for rotating the motor at a rotation speed which corresponds to an operation speed of the opening and closing body and the offset voltage being lower than the assist voltage.
