The guide rail is arranged so as to in the orthogonal direction overlap only the ascending-side wire fed out from a first wire feeding-out position at the one side of the rotating drum in the orthogonal direction toward the turnaround portion between the ascending-side wire and the descending-side wire fed out from a second wire feeding-out position at an other side of the rotating drum in the orthogonal direction toward the carrier plate.

It includes a first portion that, when the motor starts closing the member, obtains a reference value of the motor current measured at the end of a blind time period having a predetermined duration from the moment the motor starts to close the member; a second portion that compares current values of the measured motor current to a threshold value depending on said reference value, during a detection time period, following the blind time period and preceding a steady state time period of the motor, in order to detect a pinch at the closing member based on a comparison result.

The load calculating unit calculates a load in which a first load component proportional to the detected current and a second load component proportional to the angular acceleration of the rotation of the motor, the angular acceleration being approximated according to the detected current and detected voltage, are combined together.

In a window regulator which moves a slider base, slidable along a guide rail, via a pair of wires, the slider base includes: a guide portion which is fitted to the guide rail to be movable in the longitudinal direction thereof; first and second wire engaging portions with which ends of the wires are engaged, respectively; and first and second force application portions which receive a force in a moving direction of the slider base from the wires, and the guide portion is positioned in at least one of the areas between the first force application portion and the first wire engaging portion and between the second force application portion and the second wire engaging portion in the widthwise direction of the guide rail. This makes it possible to obtain a window regulator which is superior in smoothness of operation and operating efficiency of the slider base.

The glass holder includes an inboard part and an outboard part, and is connected to the slider base by an adjustment member, which is configured to adjust a top edge of the window glass. Further, the window glass is placed between the inboard part and the outboard part of the glass holder and also fixedly held by an attachment fastener. The inboard part of the glass holder slidably moves relative to the outboard part of the glass holder by the rotational movement of the adjustment member.
