Water management systems for fenestration products
A flashing includes a first edge, a second edge opposite from the first edge, a first surface, and a second surface on an opposite side of the flashing from the first surface. The first surface and the second surface extend between the first edge and the second edge. The first surface includes a hydrophobic region and a hydrophilic region.
Prefabricated flashing product
A prefabricated flashing product for an opening in an exterior surface of a structure includes a generally planar flange shaped to conform to the exterior surface, the flange extending outwardly from an entire perimeter of an aperture therein that corresponds to the opening, and a return that seals to the flange about the aperture and extends substantially perpendicularly therefrom toward an inward direction of the opening. The flange and the return are monolithically formed of a waterproof material. A method of integrating a fenestration product into an opening of an exterior surface of a structure includes inserting the flashing product described above into the opening, and inserting the fenestration product at least partially into the aperture of the flashing product.
Nail sealable multilayered film
A multilayer film is provided. The film includes a first inert layer, a first tie layer, a nail sealable layer, a second tie layer, and a second inert layer. Where, the nail sealable layer is between the first tie layer and the second tie layer, the first tie layer is between the first inert layer and the nail sealable layer, the second tie layer is between the second inert layer and the nail sealable layer, the total film thickness is between 0.002 inch and 0.010 inch, and the film has a Water Vapor Transmission Rate of less than 0.5 grams per one hundred square inches per day.
SILL FOR WATERTIGHT BUILDING OPENING ASSEMBLY EXTENSION
A unified building opening extension system is pre-built offsite. In one embodiment, the extension system is a single sheet of metal cut, bent, and fixed in a predetermined size. The extension system provides an airtight, watertight assembly that is compatible with waterproofing and air barrier systems integrated with the assembly when the opening assembly (e.g. door or window), exterior insulation, and veneer are installed on the building wall. Water intrusion or leaks are resisted even under positive and negative air pressure events (i.e., winds and storms). A sill plate supports an opening assembly in a rough opening of the building and prevents water ingress into the rough opening.
Compound fenestration assembly mull joints and methods
Compound fenestration assembly mull joints, compound fenestration assemblies using those mull joints, and methods of making and using the same are described herein. The mull joints in compound fenestration assemblies as described herein use universal joining strips to form both sides of a mull joint, as well as other universal components such as, e.g., corner gussets, locator plates, end plugs, seal members, etc. that may be used as needed to form mull joints as required in a compound fenestration assembly.
Window sill flashing
The present invention is directed towards a window sill flashing comprising a base having a substantially rectangular shape. A front flange projects perpendicularly downward from a front edge of the base and at least one side flange extends vertically from a side edge of the base. The side flange includes a front surface. The window sill flashing is made from a rigid homopolymer vinyl film.
COLLAPSIBLE DRIP COVER FOR SLIDING FENESTRATION UNIT
A drip cover for a fenestration unit. The fenestration unit includes a frame and a slideable panel supported for sliding movement within the frame. A gap is defined between the slideable panel and the frame. The drip cover includes a mounting member configured to attach to the slideable panel. The drip cover also includes an overhang that projects from the mounting member and that is configured to cover over the gap when the mounting member is attached to the slideable panel. The overhang is supported for resilient flexure relative to the mounting member between a neutral position and a flexed position. The overhang is resiliently biased toward the neutral position. The overhang, when the mounting member is attached to the slideable panel, is configured to contact a surface, thereby resiliently flexing the overhang between the neutral position and the flexed position, as the slideable panel slides relative to the surface.
Window trim for replacement windows
An adhesive backed window trim bendable and divisible along a hinge separating the trim into two strips with score lines in each strip. A nub is formed along the side edges of the window trim for use in providing a finished edge concealing the adhesive when the undivided trim or the trim strips are used during installation of a replacement window or the like. The trim is co-extruded from a rigid PVC and plasticized PVC with shallow furrows on the rear face forming the score lines.
Fenestration assemblies including composite frame cores and methods for same
A fenestration assembly includes a glazing unit includes a pane spacer between exterior and interior panes proximate glazing unit edges. A fenestration frame is coupled around the glazing unit and includes a frame core extending around the glazing unit. The frame core includes a unitary core wall including a composite material that is hollow and extends continuously from a core interior face to a core exterior face. A metal glazing cap is coupled with the frame core. The metal glazing cap having a cap end indirectly engaged with the glazing unit along the interior pane, and the cap end is remote from the pane spacer. Each of the core exterior face, the pane spacer and the metal glazing cap are thermally isolated from each other with the frame core including the unitary core wall.
Heat-assisted recording head having sub wavelength mirror formed of first and second materials
A recording head has a near-field transducer that extends a first distance away from a media-facing surface. Two subwavelength focusing mirrors are at an end of a waveguide proximate the media-facing surface and extend a second distance away from the media-facing surface that is less than the first distance. The subwavelength mirrors are on opposite crosstrack sides of the near-field transducer and separated from each other by a crosstrack gap. The subwavelength focusing mirrors each include a first material at the media-facing surface and a plasmonic material that covers an edge of the subwavelength focusing mirror that faces the near-field transducer. The first material is more mechanically robust than the plasmonic material.
