FIRE RESISTANT DOOR CORES, DOOR SKINS, AND DOORS INCLUDING THE SAME
20230235619 · 2023-07-27 ·

A door has a core that includes a first major surface having one or more first recesses, a second major surface opposite to the first major surface, and fire retardant material such as intumescent material applied to the first recesses and no more than about 20 percent by surface area of a remainder of the first major surface excluding the first recesses. A door skin includes an interior surface, an exterior surface, at least one contoured panel portion establishing a protrusion extending on the interior surface and an opposite depression extending into the exterior surface, and fire retardant material such as intumescent material applied to at least one of the protrusion or the depression and no more than about 20 percent by surface area of the remainders of the interior surface excluding the protrusion and the exterior surface excluding the depression.

HARDWARE PREPARATION FILLER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FIRE RATED DOORS

A method and system for achieving compliance for a fire-rated door assembly. To comply with fire rated door assembly codes and compliance, all components, including hardware must be listed and labeled by a certification agency, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL). The disclosure may include a hardware preparation filler solution which allows fire-rated doors to maintain fire rating and compliance when removing or modifying hardware, or converting between hardware types.

Shaker doors with solid core and methods for making thereof

The present invention relates to shaker doors with solid cores and methods for making the same. The shaker doors contain different core materials at the recessed panel than the raise peripheral region to provide dimensional stability and reduced distortion when the doors are exposed to high humidity. The devices and methods also provide for easy assembly of solid core shaker doors, including fire rated doors.

GYPSUM BASED COMPOSITIONS AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING AND USING SAME

Gypsum based compositions, processes for making same, and articles made therefrom. In one example, the gypsum based composition can include about 1.5 wt % to about 3 wt % of a starch, about 11 wt % to about 14 wt % of a paper, about 0.7 wt % to about 2.3 wt % of vermiculite, about 1.3 wt % to about 3 wt % of a plurality of reinforcing fibers, about 7 wt % to about 10 wt % of a binding agent, about 2 wt % to about 4 wt % of perlite, and about 65 wt % to about 75 wt % of a calcium sulfate, where all weight percent values are based on a combined weight of the starch, paper, vermiculite, plurality of reinforcing fibers, binding agent, perlite, and calcium sulfate.

Door panel

A laminated door core for use in fire rated doors includes a center layer having a first side and an opposing second side, where the center layer comprises fire rated particleboard. The laminated door core also includes a first layer comprising calcium silicate adhered to the first side of the center layer, a second layer comprising calcium silicate adhered to the second side of the center layer, a first layer of high-density fiberboard adhered over the first layer of calcium silicate, and a second layer of high-density fiberboard adhered over the second layer of calcium silicate. A vertical stile may be positioned along each opposing longitudinal edge of the laminated door core, and a horizontal rail may be positioned along each of a top end and a bottom end of the laminated door core.

HIGH PERFORMANCE ACOUSTIC DOOR

An acoustic door assembly having 1¾″ thickness, a sound transmission class (STC) rating greater than 50, UL10C 20-minute fire rating, and constructed without sheet metal or lead. In an embodiment, the door assembly includes a frame housing a decoupled internal core sandwiched between two mass-loaded vinyl outer faces. The internal core includes a multi-layering of low-density layers for absorbing high-frequency noise, damping layers of mass-loaded vinyl for absorbing low-frequency noise, and a flame-retardant layer. The outer faces are a multi-layered assembly coupled to a frame of the door assembly and in contact communication to the internal core, the outer faces having layers of mass-loaded vinyl, plywood, high-density fiberboard, and a veneer.
