STORM SHUTTER PANEL SYSTEMS AND METHOD OF DESIGN
Various examples of a system and method for a storm shutter system is described. In one example, the system includes at least one rail configured to be secured to a building structure and a plurality of panels. Each panel includes a first surface configured to face an exterior environment of a building and a second surface configured to face an interior of the building; at least one perforation extending between the first and second surface; rail connection elements configured to attach the panel to a rail; and interlocking elements configured for panel-to-panel assembly. The panels are configured to be assembled by a single person. The interlocking elements are configured to connect one panel of the plurality of panels to another panel forming a unit of connected panels without using additional hardware.
PRESS-FIT WINDOW INSERT
A press-fit window insert configured to provide secondary protection to an existing window, having a carrier, a fin, and a fastening clip. The carrier includes a substantially rigid framework having channels within the framework configured to securely accept one or more attachments. The fin extends from the carrier and includes a substantially flexible blade extending from a base portion of the fin. The base portion of the fin is configured to interlock the fin to the carrier. The fastening clip includes a substantially rigid brim extending from a base portion of the fastening clip. The base portion of the fastening clip is configured to interlock the fastening clip to the carrier.
Slatted door with increased impact resistance
A slatted door includes a plurality of interengaged slats, and end members arranged at ends of respective slats. The end members and the slats are configured and arranged so that, when the slats are engaged with one another and with respective end members, at least one lateral reinforcement impact distribution structure is formed. The impact distribution structure is configured to absorb, distribute and/or redirect impact force in a direction along the length of the slats.
STORM SHUTTER SYSTEMS
An exemplary method involves operating a storm shutter system installed to a building adjacent an opening. The storm shutter system includes a panel, a motor operable to drive the panel between a first position and a second position, and a control assembly operable to control the motor. The method includes receiving, by the control assembly, information from an external device. The method further includes operating the motor to linearly drive the panel from the first position to the second position in response to receiving the information.
Window Mounting Assemblies
A security window mounting frame assembly, system, and method of installing building security windows configured to control passage of a compression wave and temperature gradients around a security window pane.
Base slat pry stopper
A base slat pry stopper, such as a base slat locking bracket, for locking a rolling shutter curtain covering an opening of a structure is disclosed. The base slat pry stopper may include a bracket base plate mounted to an opening bottom wall on an interior side of the shutter curtain, and a base slat engagement portion extending upward from the bracket base plate and above a top surface of the opening bottom wall. When the shutter curtain is unrolled to cover the opening, the base slat engagement portion engages the base slat to prevent the base slat from deflecting upward away from the opening bottom wall when a force applied from an exterior side of the shutter curtain causes the base slat to deflect toward the interior side of the structure and the shutter curtain. The base slat pry stopper may be permanently or removably installed.
ADHESIVE-ATTACHED WINDOW GLAZING ASSEMBLY, MULTI-GLAZED WINDOW ASSEMBLY AND METHOD THEREFOR
A window glazing assembly that can convert an existing or already-installed window, or be used to assemble new construction windows as a multi-pane or multi-glazed window unit, is provided herein. In particular, the glazing assembly includes an attachment assembly (e.g., peel-and-stick double-sided adhesive tape) and one or more glazing layers. Some embodiments further include a spacer assembly comprising a plurality of spacer bars that may be individually installed, e.g., one by one, around the perimeter of the window such as, to the window sash, window frame, or glass window pane, itself. The glazing layer(s) can then be secured or adhered to the spacer assembly, for example, around the perimeter thereof. Some embodiments may include additional or intermediate glazing layers, providing additional insulating airspaces and enhanced performance.
COASTAL WEATHER WINDOW AND DOOR SYSTEM WITH INTERIOR MOUNTING ASSEMBLY
Disclosed is a storm protection system and method with an interior mounting assembly. In one aspect, the disclosure comprises a first jamb, a second jamb, a header, and a sill, each with a glazing recess, and each with a receptacle for inserting a screw boss that runs a length of each of the first jamb, the second jamb, the header, and the sill, wherein joined define a frame for the opening in a building. A storm protection system may further comprise glazing received by the glazing recess of each of the first jamb, the second jamb, the header, and the sill. A storm protection system may further comprise a storm track configured to the frame to, wherein the storm track identifies fastener locations for the screw boss within the frame, and wherein the storm track comprises a cap, a stanchion, and an attachment layer for attachment to the frame. The system further comprises an interior mounting bracket that allows for the addition of window treatments through the existing frame hardware and storm protection.
Method and apparatus for reinforcing roll up, roll down shutters and doors using self-forming structural shapes
A shutter for protecting an opening. The shutter comprising a plurality of horizontal curtain slats for covering the opening, wherein horizontal refers to a direction when viewing slats from a front surface, and wherein the curtain slats hang freely from a upper region of the opening; an upper transition slat movably affixed to a lower end of a first curtain slat; a lower transition slat movably affixed to an upper end of a second curtain slat; and a horizontal reinforcing member comprising at least an upper and a lower reinforcing slat, wherein the upper reinforcing slat is rotatably affixed to a lower end of the first transition slat and the lower reinforcing slat is rotatably affixed to an upper end of the second transition slat, and wherein the upper and lower reinforcing slats are rotatably joined.
