A switchable glass panel, a method of forming switchable glass panel and a method of forming switchable glass are provided. The method includes: forming a first electrode layer and a first alignment layer sequentially on a first substrate, and forming a second electrode layer and a second alignment layer sequentially on a second substrate; forming first sealants distributed along a first direction, second sealants distributed along a second direction and an edge sealant at the edge of the first alignment layer on the first alignment layer, where the first sealants and the second sealants form a grid with a plurality of openings; forming a plurality of liquid crystal layers corresponding to the plurality of openings on the second alignment layer; and oppositely arranging the first substrate and the second substrate to form a cell, and curing the first sealants and the second sealants.
Monitoring sites containing switchable optical devices and controllers
A site monitoring system may analyze information from sites to determine when a device, a sensor, a controller, or other structure associated with optically switchable devices has a problem. The system may, if appropriate, act on the problem. In certain embodiments, the system learns customer/user preferences and adapts its control logic to meet the customer's goals.
Method for protecting and concealing seal in electro-optic window
An electro-optic window includes a first substrate; an electro-optic element generally parallel to the first substrate, the electro-optic element including: a second substrate; a third substrate generally parallel to the second substrate; a sealing member disposed along at least a portion of a perimeter of one of the second and third substrates and extending therebetween; and a cavity defined between the second and third substrates. The sealing member defines the sidewalls of the cavity. A first layer of film having a perimeter portion and a central portion is disposed between at least a portion of the first and second substrates, and may be coextensive with the sealing member.
ELECTROCHROMIC ELEMENT
The disclosed electrochromic element includes a first electrode, a second electrode opposed to the first electrode, an electrochromic layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and a plurality of first interconnections electrically connected to the first electrode. The first electrode has a single section in a first region overlapping with the electrochromic layer in a plan view. The plurality of first interconnections is electrically connected to the first electrode via a first lead-out electrode provided in a second region in contact with the first region in the plan view. A region between the plurality of first interconnections and the first electrode has a resistance lower than a region between adjacent first interconnections.
LOCALIZATION OF COMPONENTS IN A COMPONENT COMMUNITY
The present disclosure describes one or more communities of components (e.g., comprising one or more sensors and/or transceivers) that are configured to automatically locate and/or self-locate their members. The community of components includes a plurality of stationary components, and may include at least one transitory component.
CONTROLLERS FOR OPTICALLY SWITCHABLE DEVICES
Window controller systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a window controller system for controlling multiple optically switchable devices comprises a printed circuit board comprising a first plurality of footprints to which a first plurality of components is mounted and a second plurality of footprints, wherein a subset of the second plurality of footprints is populated by a second plurality of components. The first plurality of components may comprise: a plurality of insulated glass unit (IGU) controllers, each configured to control an IGU of a corresponding plurality of IGUs operatively coupled to the window controller system; and a processing unit configured to control each of the plurality of IGU controllers. The second plurality of components may be selected based on a cable type and/or a protocol type used to provide power and data signals to the printed circuit board.
ENTRYWAY SYSTEMS WITH VARIABLE LIGHT TRANSMISSION PANELS
The present invention relates to variable optical transmission windows and window panels which are used for architectural applications, particularly in building entryway systems. This disclosure is directed to the use and powering of such panels in door and windows that, in part, physically open by manual or automatic sliding, tilting, pushing or rotating about the hinges, unless specifically mentioned otherwise. The doors may also have other electronic devices which provided added user functionality.
SWITCHABLE DEVICE
A switchable device for changing the opacity of at least a portion of a glazing is described. The switchable device comprises at least two (a first and a second) switchable regions in electrical communication with at least two (a first and a second) electrical connector regions. Each switchable region comprises an electrically actuated variable opacity layer between a first electrode and a second electrode, the first switchable region being arranged relative to the second switchable region such that upon connecting the first and second electrical connector regions to a suitable power supply, the opacity of the first and second switchable region changes such that at least two (a first and a second) portions of the switchable device have a change of opacity, the first portion of the switchable device having a different opacity to the second portion of the switchable device.
DEVICE FOR THE REGULATION OF LIGHT TRANSMISSION
The present application discloses a switchable device, comprising a switching layer and a first conductive layer and a second conductive layer, where the switching layer is positioned between the first and the second conductive layer, and where at least one of the first and the second conductive layers comprises a plurality of isolating sections and a plurality of conductive sections, where the isolating sections and the conductive sections alternate over the area of the conductive layer, and where the switching state of the switchable device is controlled by touch motions.
Electro-polymeric shade for use at elevated temperature and/or methods of making the same
Certain example embodiments relate to electric, potentially-driven shades usable with insulating glass (IG) units, IG units including such shades, and/or associated methods. In such a unit, a dynamic shade is located between the substrates defining the IG unit, and is movable between retracted and extended positions. The dynamic shade includes on-glass layers including a transparent conductor and an insulator or dielectric film, as well as a shutter. The shutter includes a resilient polymer, a conductor, and optional ink. Holes, invisible to the naked eye, may be formed in the polymer. Those holes may be sized, shaped, and arranged to promote summertime solar energy reflection and wintertime solar energy transmission. The conductor may be transparent or opaque. When the conductor is reflective, overcoat layers may be provided to help reduce internal reflection. The polymer may be capable of surviving high-temperature environments and may be colored in some instances.
