An electromechanical actuator is integrated into a blackout or sun-shading device that includes a screen, top and bottom bars, and top and bottom winding shafts. The screen is between the bars. The top bar is connected to the top winding shaft by first cords. The bottom bar is connected to the bottom winding shaft by second cords. The electromechanical actuator includes first and second transmission devices and an electric motor that drives the shafts. The first transmission device connects to the motor and the top winding shaft and includes a first clutch. The second transmission device connects to the electric motor and the bottom winding shaft and includes a second clutch. When the motor is activated with only one clutch engaged, only one winding shaft is rotated. Moreover, when the motor is activated electrically and the clutches are engaged, the winding shafts are rotated by the motor.

A modular shade includes at least one module that consists of a head rail unit, a foot rail unit, at least one intermediate rail unit, and a plurality of slat components. A top slat may be coupled to the head rail unit and the intermediate rail unit, and a bottom slat component may be coupled to the intermediate rail unit and the foot rail unit. A valance kit and mounting assembly secure a valance adjacent a window frame. A mounting block is securable in a clamp ring cavity of the window frame and includes a snap connector on the frame side thereof and a valance groove in each of the top and bottom sides thereof. The valance grooves extend in a width direction across the mounting block and have a depth dimension parallel with a plane of the window opening. A valance assembly includes a plurality of shrouds that together define the valance. Each of the shrouds is provided with a pair of snap ridges disposed facing each other and spaced substantially corresponding to a space between the top and bottom sides of the mounting block. A motorized window treatment for controlling the amount of daylight entering a space through a window includes a covering material, a drive shaft, and a motor coupled to the drive shaft for raising and lowering the covering material. The window treatment also includes a spring assist unit for assisting the motor by providing a torque that equals the torque provided by the weight on the cords that lift the covering material at a position midway between fully-open and fully-closed positions to minimize motor usage and conserve battery life. The window treatment may comprise a photosensor for measuring the amount of daylight outside the window and temperature sensors for measuring the temperatures inside and outside of the window. The position of the covering material may be automatically controlled in response to the photosensor and the temperature sensors, or in response to an infrared or radio-frequency remote control.
