SASH APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
There is provided a sash apparatus for securing in a window or a door, and a methods making same. The sash apparatus comprises a frame with multiple segments securable to the window or door, where each of the segments has an internal passage therein. The multiple segments are arranged and coupled together at non-straight angles to form the frame, with the internal passages within the segments in fluid communication with one another. The sash apparatus also includes a bonding fill at least partially filling the internal passages within the frame to hold the multiple segments together.
THERMALLY ENHANCED EXTRUDATE FOR WINDOWS AND DOORS
A thermally enhanced extrudate includes a channel, a first wall, and a second wall. The channel extends along a longitudinal axis from a first end to a second end of the thermally enhanced extrudate and is shaped to receive glass or a frame. The second wall is spaced from the first wall. The first wall and the second wall partially enclose a thermal break extending along the longitudinal axis. The thermal break has a first width defined between the first wall and the second wall at an upper end of the thermal break and a second width defined between the first wall and the second wall at a lower end of the thermal break. The thermally enhanced extrudate further includes a solid insulation material in the thermal break between the first and second walls and formed by curing a flowable material.

Thermally enhanced extrudate for windows and doors
A method of forming a thermally enhanced extrudate for a door or window includes providing an extrudate including a channel shaped to receive glass or a frame and having a completely enclosed cavity. The method further includes forming openings in a first flange of the extrudate. The remaining portion of the first flange form bridges that extend between a first wall and a second wall. The method further includes position a flowable material into the cavity through the openings. The flowable material cures to create a solid insulation material in the cavity and the bridges resist warping of the extrudate as the flowable material cures.
Device for delivering an insulation enhancing polyurethane foam within profiles used in doors, windows and related applications
A device adapted to deliver an insulation enhancing polyurethane foam within profiles used in doors, windows and related applications comprising an insulating material supply member (1) extending into a polyurethane forming and discharge member (2) adapted to enter and move linearly along a chamber (25, 35) of a thermally insulated sash or frame profile assembly and deliver therein a polyurethane foam that absolutely abuts onto the walls of the chamber without exerting undesirable stresses thereupon. The insulating material supply member (1) comprises independent pipes (8, 9) delivering a polyol constituent (A) and an isocyanate constituent (B) that are mixed together with a supply of air within a mixing compartment (4) of the polyurethane forming and discharge member (2) to produce the desired insulating material. The polyurethane supplying assembly starts injection at one end of the profile bar having an industrial standard length and moves rearwards to fill the chamber with the polyurethane insulating material.
Window having vacuum insulated glass (VIG) unit and frame including vacuum insulated structure(s)
A window includes a vacuum insulating glass (VIG) window unit in a window frame. The window frame includes at least one vacuum insulated structure (VIS) for improving the insulating functionality of the frame, so that the frame can adequately insulate the periphery of the VIG unit. Such windows may be used in residential and/or commercial window applications for buildings. The use of a window frame having at least one VIS is advantageous in that allows for improved window frame thermal performance and a narrow frame design if desired for improved aesthetics.
Polycarbonate honeycomb core door and method of making same
A structural panel includes a shell having spaced first and second exterior panels and frame members adjacent edges of the panels, and at least one polymeric sheet disposed between the exterior panels and bonded to an adjacent exterior panel. The polymeric sheet is made of a thermoplastic material and has a plurality of openings through its thickness spaced apart by flat wall portions of the polymeric sheet. Stiffeners are disposed between the polymeric sheets and are secured by polymeric end caps. The end caps are made of a thermoplastic material and have a plurality of openings through their thickness for receiving the stiffeners. A foam insulation material fills substantially all the space between the polymeric sheets, stiffeners, and frame members in the shell interior. At least one blast- or ballistic-resistant core layer may be disposed adjacent the at least one polymeric sheet.
