The connecting wall is integrally formed with the face panel and the mounting flange and extends away from the mounting flange to space the face panel from the mounting flange in an outward direction. The face panel and/or a top panel of the connecting wall may be inclined and/or a bottom panel of the connecting wall may include a drip-inducing formation to direct water away from the structure in use. A double-glazed variant is also disclosed.
SELF POWERED BUILDING UNIT
The present disclosure provides a building unit comprising first and second light transmissive panels. The first panel defines a light receiving surface. The building unit also comprises a structure supporting the panels in a spaced apart relationship to form 5 a cavity therebetween. In addition, the building unit comprises one or more photovoltaic cells disposed within the cavity adjacent the structure. The building unit also comprises an arrangement supported by the structure for re-directing non-visible wavelengths of sunlight incident on or passing through the light receiving surface in a direction generally transverse to a plane of the unit toward structure for collection by 10 the one or more photovoltaic elements. Further, the building unit comprises one or more electrically powered devices within the cavity and arranged to receive electrical power generated by the one or photovoltaic cells.
BUILDING APERTURE COVER, SUCH AS A WINDOW OR DOOR, COMPRISING FLEXIBLE GASKET WITH SEALED CAVITY
The present disclosure relates to a building aperture cover (1) such as a window or a door. The building aperture cover comprises a frame arrangement (2) and a vacuum insulated glass unit (3), wherein the vacuum insulated glass unit (3) comprises an evacuated gap (4) placed between a first and a second glass sheet (3a, 3b), and wherein a plurality of support structures (5) are arranged in the evacuated gap (4). The vacuum insulated glass unit (3) is arranged in the frame arrangement (2, 6). The building aperture cover (1) comprises one or more elongated flexible sealing gaskets (21, 22) arranged between an outer major surface (S1, S2) of the vacuum insulated glass unit (3) and a frame part (13a, 13c, 23a, 23c) of the frame arrangement (2, 6). The one or more elongated flexible sealing gaskets (21, 22) is arranged to extend substantially parallel to an edge (7, 50a-50d) of the vacuum insulated glass unit (3). One or more of the one or more elongated flexible sealing gaskets (21, 22) comprises an interior, sealed cavity (21a, 22a) configured to comprise a pressurized fluid.
INFILL ELECTROCHROMIC WINDOWS
Various embodiments herein relate to methods, structures, tools, installation systems, etc. for retrofitting a new electrochromic window in a pre-existing window recess. In many cases, the new electrochromic window is installed parallel to a lite of a pre-existing window, with the resulting structure including the new electrochromic window, the pre-existing window, and a pocket that forms between them. Installation of a new electrochromic window in tandem with a pre-existing window results in many benefits including improved insulation (e.g., due to the presence of the additional air pocket(s) and lite(s)), improved climate control (e.g., due to the ability to control the amount of sunlight entering the building via the electrochromic window), and enhanced aes thetics.
RETROFIT ADAPTOR FOR GLAZING STRUCTURES AND METHOD THEREFOR
A retrofit adaptor is provided for retrofitting a glazing structure comprising an inner frame body and an outer frame body with windowpanes therebetween forming a glazed window. The retrofit adaptor comprises outer and inner connecting elements and a thermal break interposed therebetween and connected thereto. The outer connecting element for being connected to the outer frame body and defines an outer clearance hole therethrough. The inner connecting element for being connected to the inner frame body. The thermal break defines a cavity for receiving insulation therein. A mechanical fastener is insertable through the outer clearance hole of the outer connecting element when unconnected to the outer frame body and through the inner connecting element when mounted to the inner frame body, via the cavity, for being fastened to the inner frame body. The outer frame body is connectable to the outer connecting element for closing the outer clearance hole. The cavity is filled with the insulation thereby plugging the outer clearance hole.
SHEETS OF POLYMERIZED SILOXANE AND RELATED METHODS FOR PROVIDING INSULATION BETWEEN AN INTERIOR OF AN ENCLOSURE AND OUTSIDE OF A WINDOW
Sheets of polymerized siloxane and related methods for providing insulation between an interior of an enclosure and outside of a window are disclosed. According to an aspect, a method includes providing a sheet of polymerized siloxane. The method also includes placing the sheet to at least substantially cover a pane of a window of an enclosure. Further, the method includes attaching the placed sheet to the window for providing insulation between an interior of the enclosure and outside of the window.
EXTERIOR VENTED GLAZING SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF GLAZING
This present invention generally relates to the manufacture and application of a vented glazing system to existing glazed units or new glazing units. More particularly this invention relates to a method of glazing and a glazing system that will increase thermal performance and reduce condensation for existing glazed units.
