Systems and methods for improving window safety
A system for improved window fall prevention provides removable attachment of a window screen frame to a window frame. Systems according to the disclosure provide removable attachment of a window screen frame to an anchor positioned in the window frame by means of a plurality of cables. The cables attach to the screen frame or rest against an exterior portion of the screen frame at an exterior end, are threaded through the screen frame, and include on an interior end, opposite the exterior end, a releasable attachment to the window frame anchor. The releasable attachment may be between a loop of cable formed at the interior end and the window frame anchor, where the window frame anchor may be a T-screw.

Screen mounting assembly and window having the same
A window includes a window frame and a screen mounting assembly. The window frame is formed with two rail slots. The screen mounting assembly is adapted to be connected to a window screen and includes a roller unit, a sliding unit and an interconnecting unit. The roller unit includes a roller seat. The sliding unit is slidable along the rail slots and defines an engaging groove. The interconnecting unit is operable between a disengaging state where the interconnecting unit is connected to the roller seat, and an engaging state where the interconnecting unit is separated from the roller seat and inserted into the engaging groove so as to engage the sliding unit, such that movement of the sliding unit along the rail slots results in winding and unwinding of the window screen.
Draw bar and brake arrangement for a draw bar
A brake arrangement, for a retractable screen arrangement in which the a screen roller applies a retraction force to the screen and brake arrangement, includes a brake arrangement, for providing a braking force between the brake arrangement and a track which guides the brake arrangement, to resist retraction. The brake arrangement provides a brake member with a friction surface for contacting the bearing surface; a brake member support for supporting the brake member; and a forcing arrangement for forcing the friction surface against the bearing surface. The forcing arrangement includes a biasing arrangement for biasing the friction surface onto the bearing surface, and a force-increasing arrangement for increasing the force with which the friction surface engages the bearing surface. The force increasing arrangement converts a frictional force between the friction surface and the track into additional contact pressure force of the friction surface onto the guide track.
Draft guard apparatus and method
A kit for sealing an architectural opening, such as a window or a door, is provided. The kit includes a clear vinyl sheet having a thickness of at least 1 millimeter and a magnetic strip. An adhesive backing extends along one side of the magnetic strip such that the magnetic strip is adhesively mountable to the vinyl sheet. The kit enables a consumer to easily seal the architectural opening by adhering the magnetic strip to the vinyl sheet, and then magnetically attaching the sheet over the architectural opening, thereby sealing the opening. The thickness and material of the sheet provides enhanced ease of use and durability.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASSEMBLING SPLINED FRAME ITEMS
A frame splining system for fitting substrate to a frame comprises a splining head that translates in three dimensions and rotates around a vertical axis. The splining head comprises a positioning wheel that translates ahead of a pressing wheel along a track of the frame to seat a spline in the track. A substrate cutting wheel runs ahead of the pressing wheel on an outer edge of the frame.
Door hatch assembly
There is provided a door hatch assembly for an aperture in a screen door, the assembly including a substantially round rim mountable on a periphery of the aperture; a static member mounted in the rim and configured to cover at least a first portion of the aperture; and a hatch engaged with the static member and movable over the static member to reversibly cover at least a second portion of the aperture.

SYSTEM FOR ATTACHMENT OF AC UNIT VENTS TO CASEMENT OR AWNING WINDOWS
The embodiments of the invention relate to a transparent panel or window insert of corresponding shape and size to a casement or awning window. The transparent panel or window insert is attached to the frame of a casement or awning window or an insect screen by way of a series of releasable fasteners around the outer perimeter of the transparent panel or window insert. A void, corresponding to the shape and size of a A/C hose is cut into the transparent panel or window insert. In some embodiments of the invention the void may be bayoneted to cooperate with bayonette-style hose connections.
