The coupling device (1) of the invention provides a flexible ladder assembly that is adaptable to variable work environments encountered at the top of a portable ladder when used for access and conducting work.

A ladder-mountable material lift for mounting on an extension ladder, having a hoist for engaging with an upper rung of the extension ladder and a platform moveable by the hoist between a lower end of the extension ladder and the hoist.
