An apparatus, a method for positioning a rock drilling, and a rock drilling rig is provided. The rock drilling rig includes a mobile drilling platform and a drilling mast connected to the drilling platform. The drilling platform is levelled vertically before initiating drilling. The apparatus determines the needed vertical levelling requirement. The levelling causes displacement of a drilling tool line passing through a drilling tool. The apparatus estimates the displacement and provides aid for the operator to position the drilling platform in order to compensate for the estimated displacement distance.

A power system and method for the adaptive power control of a drilling rig. While operating the internal combustion engine in its efficient operating range, unrequired mechanical power is converted to electrical power for storage, or use via the electrical bus on the rig. When the internal combustion engine is not required to provide mechanical or electrical power it is deactivated, and then reactivated—electrical storage on the system in the meantime providing electrical power to the bus as required. The power supply and management system could be retroactively fitted to an existing drilling rig by the incorporation of a generator and electrical storage device thereon. The system and method of the present invention allow for the optimized use of combustion-based power on a drilling rig while minimizing environmental emissions from the idle running of the at least one internal combustion engine.

The invention relates to a method performed by a control device for controlling a feeding distance and feeding rate in a rock drilling unit. The rock drilling unit comprising: a feeding device for feeding at least one drill rod and a drill bit in an axial direction; a rotating device; and a distance and rate measuring device comprising at least one rotational target wheel configured to be driven by the feeding device and at least one sensor device connected to the control device, the method comprising: controlling the feeding device to move in the axial direction; determining the feeding distance from a first position and the feeding rate of the feeding device from the rotational motion of the at least one rotational target wheel; and controlling the feeding device depending on the determined feeding distance and feeding rate of the feeding device.

POSITIONABLE CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY

A positionable carriage assembly is disclosed. In one aspect, the positionable carriage assembly includes an actuation device, such as one or more linear hydraulic cylinders, that is linked to a linear drive element. The linear drive element can include a first and second gear racks. The positionable carriage assembly may also include a first carriage member having a third gear rack and a second carriage member having a fourth gear rack. A first gear structure may be provided that operably intermeshes with the first and third racks while a second gear structure may be provided that operably intermeshes with the second and fourth racks. In operation the actuation device imparts a linear movement in a first direction onto the linear drive element which in turn imparts a synchronized linear movement in a second direction orthogonal the first direction onto the carriage members via the intermediate first and second gear structures.

At least one boom sensor is configured to generate signals indicative of a spatial orientation of the boom. A drilling work device is coupled at a distal portion of the boom. First and second actuators are adapted to actuate the drilling work device. At least one drilling work device sensor is configured to generate signals indicative of a spatial orientation of the drilling work device. A controller receives signals indicative of the spatial orientation of the boom, receives signals indicative of the spatial orientation of the drilling work device, and actuates at least one of the at least one boom actuator and the first and second actuators through series of predetermined steps to automatically position the machine in a shipping configuration.

The plurality of air compressor units are disposed in a fixing and mounting region that is between the plurality of drilling platforms, where compressed air outputted by the plurality of air compressor units flows jointly through the multi-way connector and then is transmitted to the hydraulic drilling unit through the compressed air conduit. The dust removal unit includes a dust collection cover and a dust remover, where the dust collection cover is disposed at ground apertures of the plurality of hole positions, the dust remover is disposed in the fixing and mounting region, and the dust collection cover and the dust remover are connected through the air duct. The operation bench is separately connected to the hydraulic drilling unit, the plurality of air compressor units and the dust remover for communication and control.
