20180010403 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A vessel adapted to perform subsea wellbore related operations involving a riser string that is assembled from releasably interconnected riser sections and extends between a subsea wellbore and the vessel. The riser string vertical handling system of the vessel includes a controlled motion device that is adapted to displace the riser string lifting tool in at least one horizontal direction relative to the riser spider device at least whilst travelling between the elevated and lowered position thereof loaded by the riser string suspended from the riser string lifting tool, thereby allowing to establish an inclined travel path with selectively variable inclination of the riser string lifting tool relative to an imaginary vertical line through the riser string passage of the riser spider device, e.g. said inclined travel path having an inclination selected to correspond to an actual water current induced inclination of an upper portion of the riser string during the riser string assembly process.

The invention relates to a construction machine, in particular drilling rig, comprising a mast, along which a tool is movably mounted, wherein the tool is suspended on a cable which can be actuated by means of cable winch for raising and lowering the tool, which cable winch is driven by an electric motor, as a winch drive, in a drive mode, wherein the electric motor is designed for operating in a recuperation mode in which the electric motor preferably generates electrical energy when the tool is lowered and outputs said electrical energy to an energy store, and a controller, which is designed to actuate the electric motor, depending on a specifiable target value, in such a way that the cable is tensioned both in the drive mode and in the recuperation mode of the electric motor.

HYDRAULIC WINCH CONTROL
20230014275 · 2023-01-19 ·

A method for controlling a hydraulic winch includes acquiring measurements from sensors coupled to the hydraulic winch. A first control function is computed based on the measurements. The first control function sets pressure across a variable displacement motor that produces motion of the tool string following a desired motion trajectory. A second control function is computed. The second control function sets displacement of a variable displacement pump that causes the pressure across the variable displacement motor to track the first control function. A pump command is selected based on the second control function. The pump command is transmitted to the variable displacement pump. The tool string moves responsive to the pump command.

Drawworks apparatus and method

A drawworks assembly including a drum including a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis, a coupling assembly configured to transmit torque to the drum, and a cradle assembly configured to support the drum, wherein the coupling assembly is releasably coupled to the drum at a first planar engagement interface disposed at the first end of the drum, wherein the cradle assembly is releasably coupled to the drum at a second planar engagement interface disposed at the second end of the drum.

RETROFITTING MECHANICAL WORKOVER RIG TO ELECTRO-MECHANICAL DRIVE

A system and method are disclosed for retrofitting mechanical workover rigs with electric motors to create a hybrid mechanical and electric drive. The process involves the replacement of the combustion engine with one or more electric motors to drive various components of the rig. The retrofit design allows for cleaner, more precise, and more efficient operations while eliminating the need for hydrocarbons as fuel and thus reducing associated greenhouse gas emissions. It also enables the installation of a computer control which, among other benefits, allows more precise control of the rig's operations than is possible with a mechanical transmission. The electric motors may be driven by a battery energy storage system.

Wellbore Production Method and System Using Bailer

Hydrocarbons are produced from a wellbore using a wand member supported within the top end of the casing and a bailer vessel supported within the casing of the wellbore to reciprocate between (i) a lower position submerged in the hydrocarbon fluids at a predetermined depth within the casing such that fluids enter a production chamber of the bailer vessel and (ii) an upper position receiving the wand member therein through an open top of the bailer vessel so as to force the hydrocarbon fluids in the production chamber under pressure through a bottom opening in the wand member and into a receiving chamber of the wand member. The hydrocarbons in the wand member are then discharged to a location externally of the casing for storage.
