DEVICE FOR GENERATING AN AXIAL LOAD IN A DRILL STRING ASSEMBLY
The invention relates to drilling equipment. A device for generating an axial load in a drill string assembly with a bottomhole motor powered by drilling fluid comprises a hollow cylinder barrel and a spring-loaded flow-through plunger rod with a key, the rod and key forming a subassembly. The hollow cylinder barrel is provided with a sealing collar and with bilateral longitudinally oriented grooves that are arranged along the internal generatrix of the cylinder barrel and receive with longitudinal and transverse clearance the key, having a profiled surface, such that the key is capable of moving along the grooves together with the flow-through plunger rod. The length of the bilateral longitudinally oriented grooves is dependent on the maximum length of the working stroke of the flow-through plunger rod. The result is an improvement in the operating efficiency of the drill string together with expanded functional capabilities.

Pump jack with counterbalance
A pump jack with counterbalance system is provided, including a supporting structure, a linear actuator with a housing and a shaft, a first pulley carried by the shaft, a second pulley fixed above the first pulley, an elongate flexible member, and a weight cared by the shaft. The housing is vertically oriented and mounted to the supporting structure above a ground surface. The shaft has a first end received within the housing and a connection end that extends out of the housing and carries the first pulley and the weight. The linear actuator drives the shaft between extended and retracted positions. The elongate member passes around the pulleys and has a first end fixed relative to the housing and a second end connected to a surface rod, such that reciprocating movement of the shaft causes the surface rod to move vertically and the weight to act as a mechanical counterbalance.

COMPENSATING RIG ELEVATOR
A compensating rig elevator is provided to eliminate set-down weight from threaded connectors during make-up of a pipe stand and thereby provide an ability to reduce the risk of thread galling and cross-threading. The elevator may comprise one or more hoist assemblies with bail arms that deflect as the compensating rig elevator is suspended by the bail arms and a tubular is placed in the compensating rig elevator. The bail arms actuate a locking mechanism to secure the compensating rig elevator in a closed position around the tubular. The compensating rig elevator can also have compensating rams and a slip system to positively engage the tubular and bear the weight of multiple tubulars.
