Power tong interlock system
A control system for a tong for a drilling rig includes a tong motor control valve that is selectively actuatable to cause rotation of the tong in a first direction or in a second direction, a run/pull mode selector configured to actuate between a first configuration for running tubulars into a well and a second configuration for pulling tubulars from the well, a rotation speed selector configured to actuate between a high-speed setting configured to cause the tong to be driven to rotate at a first speed, and a low-speed setting configured to cause the tong to be driven to rotate at a second speed, and a rotation change control device configured to selectively prevent or permit actuation of the tong motor control valve based on the configuration of the run/pull mode selector and the setting of the rotation speed selector.
WORK PLATFORM AND METHOD FOR WELL OPERATIONS
A work platform (10) for use in well operations, the work platform (10) being configured for positioning above a well pipe (15), the work platform (10) having a support frame (12), a support tool (13) arranged on the support frame (12), the support tool (13) operable to engage a lubricator (14) and vertically and horizontally support the lubricator (14), wherein the support frame (12) is movable between an advanced position and a retracted position. There is also provided an assembly for carrying out well operations comprising a wireline mast (11), and methods of inserting and retrieving a tool string into or from a well pipe (15).
Attachment for making up or breaking out pipe
An attachment is described that is configured for attachment to an arm of a piece of heavy construction equipment. The attachment is configured to rotate a section of pipe during break out (i.e. disconnection or disassembly) from another section of pipe and/or make up (i.e. connection or assembly) with another section of pipe. The attachment is configured to break the joint or torque the joint to a predetermined torque value, unthread or thread pipe, and lift the pipe under the power of the heavy construction equipment.
END EFFECTOR FOR GRIPPING AND SPINNING PIPES
An end effector for gripping and spinning a pipe includes a head portion including a first connection interface for connecting the end effector to a robotic arm. In addition, the end effector includes a pair of jaws rotatably connected to the head portion between an open position and a gripping position. Further, the end effector includes a spinner for spinning a pipe held by the pair of jaws in the gripping position around a spinning axis generally corresponding to a longitudinal centre axis of the pipe. The first connection interface has a normal which is substantially parallel to the spinning axis. There is also disclosed a robot including an end effector as well a robot assembly and a drilling installation including such as robot.
SPINNER TOOL WITH CONTROL VALVE
A tubular rotating system for rotating threaded tubulars is provided. The system includes a frame, a plurality of rollers coupled to the frame and configured to rotate a tubular, and a control valve coupled to the frame and configured to control a rotational speed of the rollers. The control valve controls an amount of air, fluid, or electric power supplied to the system based on tension applied to the system to thereby control the speed at which the rollers rotate.
System and method for conducting subterranean operations
A tubular handling system for conducting subterranean operations is disclosed and can include a first tubular handling system and a second tubular handling system. The first tubular handling system can include a bridge disposed within a tubular storage area, an arm pivotally coupled to the bridge, and a gripper coupled to the arm and adapted to engage with a tubular in the tubular storage area. The second tubular handling system can include a support structure, a first tubular handler coupled to the support structure, and a second tubular handler coupled to the support structure and distinct from the first tubular handling system.
APPARATUS FOR ROTATING AND CLAMPING A TUBULAR
An apparatus is provided for spinning a tubular that is also capable of functioning as a clamping mechanism by providing driver rollers with internal gear mechanism for increasing the amount of torque that can be applied to a tubular.
Gripper With Spinning Means
A gripper for gripping and spinning a pipe body includes: a rotatable input shaft; a gripping means for gripping the pipe body; a spinning means for spinning the pipe body while it is being gripped by the gripping means; a coupling means for connecting the rotatable input shaft to the gripping means and to the spinning means and for selectively engaging the gripping means and the spinning means ; and a braking means configured to engage the differential coupling means so as to selectively prevent at least one of the gripping means and the spinning means from being operated upon rotating the rotatable input shaft. The coupling means may comprise a differential coupling.
Drill rod gripping apparatus
A drill rod gripping apparatus to grip and impart rotational motion to a drill rod including a sled axially mounted at a frame and having first and second jaws moveably mounted at the sled to allow a substantially linear lateral movement across the sled to and from one another. A plurality of rod engagers are mounted at each jaw with at least one of the engagers including an abrasive surface formed from a coating to increase the frictional force between the drill rod and the gripping apparatus.
Pipe Handling For A Drill String At Ground Exit
An exit side pipe handling and vise tool. The tool may be suspended from an arm of a hydraulic machine and rotated and pivoted relative to the arm. The tool comprises two retainer assemblies, two vise assemblies, and a roller assembly each suspended from a linear frame. Each of the retainer assemblies is movable relative to the frame in a direction transverse to a length of the frame. The vise assemblies are in side-by-side configuration to break a connection between adjacent pipe segments. The roller assembly defines rollers having a spiral ramp disposed on an external surface to encourage axial movement of a pipe segment during rotation thereof.
