Systems and methods for producing hydrocarbon material from or injecting fluid into a subterranean formation using adjustable flow restriction

A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a subterranean reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having one or more injection ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a valve sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing and comprising a fluid channel adapted to establish fluid communication between the central passage and the injection ports, and configured to create a fluid flowrate restriction. The valve assembly has a flow adjuster connectable to the valve sleeve, and is selectively arranged to align an opening with the fluid channel and allow fluid to flow from the fluid channel through the opening to the injection port, wherein connecting the flow adjuster to the valve sleeve defines a flow length of the fluid channel to adjust the fluid restriction created by the fluid channel.

SAND REMOVAL SYSTEM

A sand removal system configured to remove sand from a casing installed within a producing wellbore. The system utilizes a bottom hole assembly comprising a check valve sub and at least one sand removal tool. A swab cup installed within a vertical section the casing is used to create a pressure differential around the bottom hole assembly, causing fluid and sand to flow at a high velocity into the sand removal tool. The sand is caused to flow upstream where is later removed from the wellbore.

WELL TESTING OPERATIONS USING AUTOMATED CHOKE CONTROL

The disclosure presents processes to improve the calibration of adjustable choke valves corresponding to a specific size of positive choke bean. Typically, manufacturers specify a position of the adjustable choke valve that corresponds to a specific choke bean size. Hydrocarbon fluid conditions and composition vary and subterranean formation characteristics vary which can lead to errors in the calibration. By comparing flow rate parameters of the hydrocarbon fluid flowing through the adjustable choke manifold and the positive choke manifold, errors in calibration can be detected and corrected. The factors involved with the hydrocarbon fluid and the error correction can be used to update a choke model. The choke model can then be used for future calibrations of the adjustable choke valve.

Wellbore system having an annulus safety valve

An annulus safety valve assembly for controlling gas flow in a wellbore annulus that includes a passage, a check valve in the passage, and an actuator that is selectively changed between first and second states. The actuator is bi-stable, and requires no energy to remain in either state. When the actuator is put into one of the states, the check valve configuration is changed from one way flow to two way flow. Reconfiguring the check valve into the two way flow configuration vents lift gas from inside the annulus that is below the check valve.

Described is a flow control device comprising a body locatable with a tubular and a flow regulator, housed within the body. The flow regulator defines a flow path through the body to accommodate flow between internal and external locations of a tubular in use. The flow regulator comprises a valve arrangement forming part of the flow path, and a biasing mechanism configured to urge the valve arrangement towards an open configuration from a restricted configuration in which fluid flow though the flow path is restricted. The biasing mechanism and the flow path through the flow control device are configured such that a differential pressure acting across the flow regulator, in excess of a particular threshold, moves the valve arrangement from the open configuration towards the restricted configuration in order to limit flow through the flow control device.

FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM

A flow control system selectively regulates production of a fluid from a well. The flow control system includes a plurality of flow control devices, each flow control device rotatable by a portion of the fluid and selectively directing the portion of the fluid through an outlet of the flow control device based on the density of the fluid. The system further includes a regulator valve controlled at least in part by the portion of fluid exiting the outlet of the flow control device. The regulating valve regulates production of a remaining portion of the fluid from the well.
