Objects and tools for use in hydraulic fracturing and methods of manufacturing same

Embodiments disclosed herein include dissolvable and intentionally degradable objects that are useful for hydraulic fracking operations. Such objects are at least in part manufactured using materials that are soluble in certain fluids including water. The dissolvable and intentionally degradable fracking objects can be manufactured from one or more materials, including composite materials. In one embodiment, dissolvable fracking objects are manufactured from ceramic materials that are soluble in fluids such as water. Such dissolvable fracking objects include fracking balls and plugs. These fracking balls and plugs are arranged to seal a well for a predetermined period of time and dissolve over that predetermined period of time until the well is no longer sealed. In another embodiment, tools generally useful in fracking operations are manufactured to have desirable elastomeric properties. Such tools can be manufactured from a combination of materials that are soluble in fluids and generally dispersible in fluids.

Nested Drill Bit Assembly For Drilling With Casing
20230043864 · 2023-02-09 · ·

A nested drill bit assembly is disclosed for drilling a wellbore, comprising a parent bit and at least one child bit nested within the parent bit. Each bit in the nested drill bit assembly may be driven by a respective casing that gets cemented in place as part of a drilling with casing system. The parent bit and child bit(s) may be rotated together, with the parent bit and child bit collectively defining a contiguous cutting profile for drilling an initial segment of the wellbore. A driver is then lowered into the casing for connection to the child bit to drill beyond the parent bit. The driver may be configured as a drive bit for drilling through material leftover from a cementing operation prior to connecting to the child bit.

Self-destructible frac ball enclosed within a destructible ball retainer

A self-destructible frac ball is described herein. The self-destructible frac ball is configured to seal a hydraulic flow path through a fluid conduit of a frac plug when engaged on a ball seat of the frac plug. The self-destructible frac ball includes an activation mechanism configured to activate a destructive medium in response to the satisfaction of at least one predetermined condition. The self-destructible frac ball also includes the destructive medium, which is configured to destroy the self-destructible frac ball and a corresponding destructible ball retainer when activated by the activation mechanism. The destruction of the self-destructible frac ball and the corresponding destructible ball retainer reestablishes the hydraulic flow path through the fluid conduit of the frac plug.

Artificial lift assembly

An artificial lift assembly and method relating thereto is designed to prevent inadvertent electrical discharge caused by fluids flowing through an electrical submersible pumping system, which is part of the assembly. The assembly uses a rupture disc to prevent fluid flow during introduction of the assembly into a wellbore and a dart and sleeve to prevent fluid flow during removal of the assembly from the wellbore.

A frac plug with a flapper positioned within a shearable housing. More specifically, embodiments are directed towards an upper portion of the shearable housing that is configured to be separated from an insert responsive to flowing back through the frac plug.

Downhole ceramic disk dissolving in acid and well stimulation in single downhole activity

Methods and systems for breaching a ceramic disk installed in a wellbore during oil and gas well completion and production activities. A ceramic disk dissolves with a strong acid. Additionally, the strong acid is further used to stimulate a reservoir. The strong acid can be introduced to the wellbore through coiled tubing or directly from the surface.

CONVERTIBLE TRACER VALVE ASSEMBLIES AND RELATED METHODS FOR FRACTURING AND TRACING

A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string disposed within a hydrocarbon-containing reservoir is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing having a plurality of frac ports for establishing fluid communication between a central passage and the reservoir. The valve assembly includes a bottom sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing configured to selectively open the frac ports, and a top sleeve operatively mounted within the valve housing slidable between (i) a first position defining a first fluid pathway whereby fluid is flowable down into the central passage and into the reservoir via the frac ports, and (ii) a tracing position defining a second fluid pathway whereby fluid is flowable from the reservoir into an annulus defined between the top sleeve and the housing. The valve assembly also has a tracer compartment defined within the annulus forming part of the second fluid pathway and accommodating a tracer material.

Transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug

A transforming bridge-to-flow-through frac plug has a mandrel, a retaining sleeve, a pair of cones, a pair of slips, a packing element, and a keeper ring. The mandrel is concentrically connected within the retaining sleeve, and is constructed of a dissolvable material such that the mandrel is dissolvable through application of a solvent in order to form a big bore flow-through frac plug if removal of the frac plug by milling is not possible. The pair of cones, pair of slips, packing element, and keeper ring are positioned on the exterior of the retaining sleeve in order to secure the frac plug in place after a setting operation, even if the mandrel is dissolved in order to form the big bore flow-through frac plug.

Downhole setting system for use in a wellbore

A downhole tool suitable for use in a wellbore, the tool having a cone mandrel having a dual-cone outer surface. The downhole tool includes a carrier ring disposed around one end of the cone mandrel, and a seal element disposed around the carrier ring. There is a slip disposed around or proximate to an other end of the cone mandrel.

DOWNHOLE TOOL MEMBER COMPRISING A BRANCHED POLY(HYDROXYACID)

The invention relates to downhole tools comprising members comprising branched poly(hydroxyacid) polymers provided with improved degradation rate when in contact with water.
