11846148 · 2023-12-19 · ·

Systems and methods include a method for using a downhole logging tool. A downhole logging tool is inserted into a well. The downhole logging tool includes a gauge chamber containing gauges, a compressed gas chamber containing compressed gas, a timer powered by a battery, a release sub, and a balloon housing containing a balloon in a deflated state. Data is collected by the gauges of the downhole logging tool during a downward travel of the downhole logging tool. A release point to release compressed gas is determined by the timer based on a travelling speed of the downhole logging tool. The compressed gas is released by the release sub at the release point, inflating the balloon to an inflated state, creating a buoyant force for the downhole logging tool. Additional data is collected by the gauges of the downhole logging tool during an upward travel of the downhole logging tool.

A method and apparatus for using a plurality of impact dampening discs in a setting tool.

Frac Plug with Integral Setting Tool

A system combining a setting tool and a frac plug into one assembly thus producing a much shorter and more reliable assembly. More specifically, a downhole assembly comprising a plug section, which itself comprises a top sub, a bottom sub, a slip, and an elastomeric element. The downhole assembly further comprises a power section comprising a body comprising a power charge and one or more ignitors, a firing head, a shearing pin, and a setting tool piston. Additionally, the downhole assembly comprises a check valve, wherein the check valve is positioned downhole from the power charge and inside the setting tool piston; a mandrel comprising a hydraulic chamber and a ball, wherein the mandrel is positioned inside and adjacent to the setting tool piston and the top sub; and a dog.

Pressure isolation ring to isolate the setting chamber once hydraulic packer is set

A hydraulic set packer system includes an outer sleeve and a mandrel extending through the outer sleeve. The mandrel has a setting port extending through a radial wall of the mandrel, and the setting port is configured to provide fluid communication from a central bore of the mandrel to a setting chamber formed between the outer sleeve and the mandrel. The system also includes a piston configured to move axially along the mandrel in response to a setting pressure in the setting chamber. The piston is configured to drive at least one radially actuatable component to actuate in a radial direction to engage a wellbore wall. Further, the system includes a pressure isolation assembly disposed in the setting chamber. The pressure isolation assembly is configured to move axially with respect to the mandrel from a first position to a second position to seal the setting port.

Electrohydraulic movement of downhole components and method

A downhole electrohydraulic movement arrangement including a spark gap device positioned and configured to move a separate component, and an energy source electrically connected to the spark gap device. A method for moving a component in a downhole environment including disposing an electrohydraulic arrangement having a spark gap device and an energy source electrically connected to the spark gap device operably proximate a component, actuating the spark gap device, generating a pressure wave with the spark gap device, and moving the component with the pressure wave. A downhole system including a borehole, a component moved within the borehole by an electrohydraulic arrangement.

In some embodiments, a downhole logging tool configured for placement in a wellbore comprises a first magnet configured to activate a first volume of ferromagnetic fluid disposed between the downhole logging tool and the wellbore to achieve a first seal between a primary analysis region of the downhole logging tool and a wellbore fluid.

Downhole vibration tool

A downhole vibration tool includes a body, a mandrel, a spring, and a balance piston. The body may be generally tubular and may have one or more helical slots formed on an inner surface thereof. The mandrel may be generally tubular, may have a bore, and may be positioned at least partially within the body. The mandrel may have one or more helical splines formed on an outer surface of the mandrel, the helical splines engaging the helical slots of the body such that the mandrel is translatable axially relative to the body. The spring may be positioned in an annular space formed between the mandrel and the body defined as a spring chamber. The balance piston may be in an annular space formed between the mandrel and the body, wherein the balance piston separates an oil-filled chamber from an internal pressure chamber.

ACTUATOR, METHOD, AND SYSTEM

An actuator, including a housing having a flow conduit therethrough, a pressure balanced poppet disposed in the housing, initially preventing flow through the housing, and a heat evolving composition disposed to move the poppet by fluid heating to cease preventing flow through the housing upon ignition of the heat evolving composition. A method for actuating a tool, including igniting the heat evolution composition, heating a fluid located between the poppet and the housing, driving the poppet to move with the heated fluid, and flowing fluid through the housing. A borehole tool, including the actuator, a tool member disposed in the tool and movable by the fluid flowing through the housing, the movement of the tool member changing an operational condition of the tool. A borehole system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, the actuator disposed within or as a part of the string.

Device for detecting change in underground medium

The inventive concept relates to a device that detects a leak of a liquid leaked from a sinkhole, water pipe or oil pipeline under the ground. In the detection device of the inventive concept, a plurality of reception devices disposed on the surface of the earth simultaneously receive an ultrasonic signal transmitted from a transmission device under the ground and a radio frequency (RF) signal synchronized with the ultrasonic signal. Also, by measuring an arrival time of the ultrasonic signal by using the wireless signal received by each reception device as a triggering signal, a leak range of a liquid leaked from a sinkhole, water pipe or oil pipeline on a signal path between the transmission device and the reception device is detected.
