EXPANDABLE ELEMENT CONFIGURATION, METHOD AND SYSTEM
A shape memory material element configuration including a shape memory material element, and a capillary line extending to the element and positioned to apply an activation fluid to the element.
Downhole cable deployment
A method of deploying a flexible cable in a wellbore includes carrying, by a tubular assembly, a cable spool cartridge into the wellbore. The cable spool cartridge is attached to an exterior of the tubular assembly and contains the flexible cable. A first end of the flexible cable is attached to a buoyancy device, and the buoyancy device is releasably attached to the cable spool cartridge. A fluid is flowed by the tubular assembly in a downhole direction through an interior of the tubular assembly and in an uphole direction within an annulus at least partially defined by the exterior of the tubular assembly. The fluid has a greater density than the buoyancy device. The buoyancy device is released by the cable spool cartridge, and the buoyancy device is configured to travel after release in the uphole direction with the fluid and thereby pull the flexible cable from the cable spool cartridge and into the annulus.
BALLOON-EQUIPPED AUTONOMOUS DOWNHOLE LOGGING TOOL FOR OIL AND GAS WELLS
Systems and methods include a method for using a downhole logging tool. A downhole logging tool is inserted into a well. The downhole logging tool includes a gauge chamber containing gauges, a compressed gas chamber containing compressed gas, a timer powered a battery, a release sub, and a balloon housing containing a balloon in a deflated state. Data is collected by the gauges of the downhole logging tool during a downward travel of the downhole logging tool. A release point to release compressed gas is determined by the timer based on a travelling speed of the downhole logging tool. The compressed gas is released by the release sub at the release point, inflating the balloon to an inflated state, and creating a buoyant force for the downhole logging tool. Additional data is collected by the gauges of the downhole logging tool during an upward travel of the downhole logging tool.
Downhole Vibration Tool
A downhole vibration tool includes a body, a mandrel, a spring, and a balance piston. The body may be generally tubular and may have one or more helical slots formed on an inner surface thereof. The mandrel may be generally tubular, may have a bore, and may be positioned at least partially within the body. The mandrel may have one or more helical splines formed on an outer surface of the mandrel, the helical splines engaging the helical slots of the body such that the mandrel is translatable axially relative to the body. The spring may be positioned in an annular space formed between the mandrel and the body defined as a spring chamber. The balance piston may be in an annular space formed between the mandrel and the body, wherein the balance piston separates an oil-filled chamber from an internal pressure chamber.
Pressure Isolation Ring To Isolate The Setting Chamber Once Hydraulic Packer Is Set
A hydraulic set packer system includes an outer sleeve and a mandrel extending through the outer sleeve. The mandrel has a setting port extending through a radial wall of the mandrel, and the setting port is configured to provide fluid communication from a central bore of the mandrel to a setting chamber formed between the outer sleeve and the mandrel. The system also includes a piston configured to move axially along the mandrel in response to a setting pressure in the setting chamber. The piston is configured to drive at least one radially actuatable component to actuate in a radial direction to engage a wellbore wall. Further, the system includes a pressure isolation assembly disposed in the setting chamber. The pressure isolation assembly is configured to move axially with respect to the mandrel from a first position to a second position to seal the setting port.
Impact resistant material in setting tool
A method and apparatus for using a plurality of impact dampening discs composed of a closed cell polyurethane foam composite with polyborodimethylsiloxane as a dilatant non-Newtonian fluid dispersed through a foam matrix in a downhole setting tool to absorb the energy released during setting operations.
Counter and system with counter
A counter including a housing disposed about a tubular creating a space therebetween, a piston disposed in the space and responsive to pressure up events in the tubular to compress a transfer chamber, a supply chamber fluidly attached to the transfer chamber; a trigger chamber fluidly attached to the transfer chamber wherein sequential pressure events cause the piston to move fluid from the supply chamber to the trigger chamber. A counter including a fluid incrementing configuration, an activation member in fluid force communication with the fluid incrementing configuration, the activation member having a first position where a fluid port is blocked and a second position where the fluid port is unblocked, the fluid port being fluid pressure connected to a tool to be actuated when the activation member is in the second position.
