Well Abandonment
20220333454 · 2022-10-20 ·

A method of recovering casing from a wellbore in which: a logging tool is run to an estimated stuck point of the casing through the central bore of the casing spear and casing cutter; the casing spear is attached to the casing and tension applied so that logging can be performed over a length at an estimated stuck point both with and without tension to provide the verified stuck point; and the casing cutter is positioned relative to this to cut the free casing; and the spear used to remove it. The method can be performed on a single trip. Embodiments include incorporating a packer to circulate fluid during casing cutting; a disconnect, anchor mechanism and motor to allow use of a motor to operate the cutter; and a Down Hole Power Tool with a method of establishing the required force to recover a length of stuck casing.

09797994 · 2017-10-24 ·

An oil well improvement system having an intrusion detection and response subsystem that provides practical capability to defend offshore drilling platform from surface or subsurface terrorist threats/attacks utilizing modified low-cost off-the-shelf equipment and processor programs. The subsystem processes acoustical and/or RF sensor data to determine contact positions, rates, projected future positions, identification, threat analysis and recommends appropriate soft/hard kill counter measures and further provides control of those countermeasures.

Well Bore Casing Cutting Tool With Expandable Cutter Bases and Having Nose Section Cutting Capability

A wellbore casing cutting tool having multiple expandable cutter bases. The leading or downhole ends of the cutter bases are tapered, forming a tapered nose profile, and are covered with hardened cutting material to form a cutting surface. The cutting surface on the tapered nose profile can be used to remove a cement sheath within a casing string being cut or milled.

Oil well improvement system—well monitor and control subsystem

This subsystem is an element of an oil well improvement (disasters preventive) system for offshore wells. This subsystem modifies existing in-well; data transmission equipment, data formatting & processing, and further modifies the processing of the existing sensors and remote controlled devices to provide enhanced capacity, reaction time & reliability for dynamically monitoring & controlling in-well resources. This sensor data and controlled tool status is further integrated into a single data base along with all seabed & platform devices and all related information (formation survey, drill plan, etc). The subsystem processes this data and develops instant status of operational conditions and provides recommendations/alerts/automated controls. Although the primary objective of the subsystem focuses on reducing/eliminating the disastrous effects of blowout, the subsystem also provides the means to alter/improve the normal/uneventful well drilling processes.
