Well casing/tubing disposal
A method of clearing well casing (3) or tubing from a target region of an oil/gas well (1) borehole is provided. The clearance of the oil/gas well bore hole being achieved by employing chemical agents (9) that consume, weaken or melt the well casing/tubing. In some aspects of the method the well casing is cleared to expose the rock formation within which the well borehole is formed so that the rock formation can be accessed from within the well casing/tubing. In other aspects of the method the removal of inner tubing structures is used to facilitate the unimpaired deployment of repair tools down the well borehole.
Rigless method for selective zonal isolation in subterranean formations using polymer gels
A method for zonal isolation in a subterranean formation includes identifying a zone of interest within the subterranean formation, determining a static temperature of the zone of interest, determining a time duration for gelation of a treatment fluid, determining a concentration of a cross-linker in the treatment fluid, determining a volume of the treatment fluid to be delivered to the zone of interest, determining a correlation between cooling of a wellbore near the zone of interest and a delivery rate of the treatment fluid, determining a target wellbore temperature, delivering a cooling stage until the target wellbore temperature is reached, and delivering a treatment stage. Delivering the cooling stage and the treatment stage results in forming, within the zone of interest, a gel that is impermeable to fluid flow.
Apparatus for conditioning natural gas for use in gas lift artificial lift applications in oil and gas production
A natural gas conditioning system for conditioning unconditioned natural gas for use in a gas lift system at a wellbore comprises a series of coolers to receive and cool unconditioned natural gas, and a high-pressure, three-phase separator. The separator receives cooled unconditioned natural gas from the coolers and results in separate flows of conditioned lift gas, waste water and hydro-carbon liquids. The conditioned lift gas can be directed to a first heat exchanger, and the hydro-carbon liquids can be directed to a second heat exchanger. A chiller can be coupled to a third heat exchanger. All the components can be carried by a skid.
COOLING FOR GEOTHERMAL WELL DRILLING
A method for drilling a geothermal well in a subterranean zone includes drilling, with a drill string, a wellbore of the geothermal well in the subterranean zone. An inherent temperature of the rock adjacent a rock face at a downhole end of the wellbore is at least 250° C. While drilling, a drilling fluid is flowed at a temperature at the rock face such that a difference between the inherent temperature of the rock adjacent the rock face and the temperature of the drilling fluid at the rock face is at least 100° C.
System and methods for in situ recovery and processing of recovered solutions
A method and system are provided for the creation of vertical and horizontal freeze wells, in a dome-like pattern around the ore body, as a hydraulic barrier to ensure the ISR mining solution and the mined minerals do not flow out of the ore body. A method to formulate a suitable mining solution used for ISR mining, where the lixivant does not freeze when using the freeze dome containment method and where the resulting PLS has a high concentration of dissolved minerals and thus eliminates the need for the solvent extraction/ion exchange step during processing is also described.
CONFIGURATIONS FOR COOLING CAPACITORS
A configuration for cooling capacitors comprises a flow tube within a tool body of a pulse power drilling assembly. The flow tube is configured provide a flow path for drilling fluid through one or more sub-assemblies of the pulse power drilling assembly. One or more capacitors are positioned between the flow tube and the tool body. Each of the one or more capacitors comprises a cooling tube embedded within the capacitor to provide a thermally conductive path for removal of heat associated with the one or more capacitors. Cooling capacitors comprises providing a flow of cooling fluid to a cooling tube embedded in a capacitor in the pulse power drilling assembly.
COOLING SYSTEM FOR DOWNHOLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE
The present invention is related to cooling systems for electronic devices used in downhole operations. In this scenario, the present invention provides a downhole electronic device cooling system comprising a first heat exchanger element (1) internal to a heat exchanger vessel (3), and a second heat exchanger element (2) associated with the electronic device (4), wherein the first (1) and second (2) heat exchanger elements are in fluid communication by a cooling fluid, wherein the heat exchanger vessel (3) allows the circulation of a secondary cooling fluid,
Rigless method for selective zonal isolation in subterranean formations using colloidal silica
A method for zonal isolation in a subterranean formation includes identifying a zone of interest within the subterranean formation, determining a static temperature of the zone of interest, determining a time duration for gelation of a treatment fluid, determining a concentration of an accelerator in the treatment fluid, determining a volume of the treatment fluid to be delivered to the zone of interest, determining a correlation between cooling of a wellbore near the zone of interest and a delivery rate of the treatment fluid, determining a target wellbore temperature, delivering a cooling stage until the target wellbore temperature is reached, and delivering a treatment stage. Delivering the cooling stage and the treatment stage results in forming, within the zone of interest, a gel that is impermeable to fluid flow.
