COILED TUBING SPIRAL VENTURI TOOL

A tool and method based on proven technologies, to remove sand and other types of solid particulate materials and fluids from wellbores and conduits, resulting from well-drilling, well-production or both, and consequently to reactivate well production. As time passes, solid aggregates are consolidated, plugging the wellbore, so they can be removed following two stages: disintegration in small particles and its further transport to surface. The tool, modular, composed of different subsystems, is connected to the end of concentric coil tubing, operates promoting the aggregates disintegration by using a spiral jet to impact these solids and suctioning the small particles and well fluids, simultaneously or later, by using jet pumps based on a set of several venturis. Changes between different operation modes are imposed by modifying surface pump pressure levels and the tool does not need to be removed from the wellbore between different stages, reducing the overall operation time.

Process for isolating a horizontal tie-in pipeline of an inactive hydrocarbon-producing well from a main pipeline

A method for isolating a horizontal tie-in pipeline of an inactive hydrocarbon-producing well from a main pipeline to prevent flow of hydrocarbons into the tie-in pipeline includes the steps of: identifying a location of a junction of the tie-in pipeline and the main pipeline and cleaning the tie-in pipeline by deploying a locating and cleaning assembly into the tie-in pipeline, withdrawing the locating and cleaning assembly, deploying a plug device having a longitudinally extending forward probe and a sealing element to the location of the junction, and remotely actuating the sealing element. The locating and cleaning device includes a pipeline junction sensing element longitudinally extending from a forward end of the locating and cleaning device. The sensing element is connected to a valve which, when open, relieves pressure in the locating and cleaning assembly as an indicator of the location of the junction.

Apparatus for verifying the inner diameter of tubulars forming a tubular string
11549363 · 2023-01-10 ·

A floating drift apparatus for verifying the inner diameter of tubulars as the tubulars are made up into a tubular string being run into a wellbore. A float section provides buoyancy to float the apparatus in fluid within the bore of a tubular, and a drift section has a drift element with a diameter substantially equal to the tubular inner diameter being verified, which may be the drift diameter. When running a tubular string, the apparatus is inserted into the bore of the tubular string, floating in the fluid. As joints of tubular are made up and run into the wellbore, the tubulars move downhole around the apparatus. Preferably, the floating drift apparatus can be visually detected. If an undersize ID is encountered, the floating drift apparatus will be pushed downhole and no longer visible; the operator can remove the undersize ID tubular from the string.

Bottom hole assembly with a cleaning tool

A method of positioning a bottom hole assembly in a wellbore includes lowering the bottom hole assembly into the wellbore. The bottom hole assembly has a whipstock, a downhole tool, and a cleaning tool having a cleaning element. The method also includes cleaning at least a portion of a wall of the wellbore using the cleaning tool, and activating the downhole tool to engage the cleaned portion of the wall.

Wash Tool

A wash tool comprises a mandrel with a central annulus and one or more lateral bores and one or more ring-shaped rotary hubs positioned about the mandrel adjacent to the one or more lateral bores. The rotary hubs comprise lateral bores perpendicular to the lateral bores of the mandrel such that pressurized fluid introduced to the central annulus of the mandrel impacts the inner surface of the rotary hubs and forces them to rotate, delivering pressurized fluid to the inner surface of a wellbore or tubular. The wash tool is modular and can be attached to a top sub or bottom sub, and may be used with or without a wireline. When used with a wireline, the wireline is insulated from the wash fluid by means of a tie-back and multiple seals.
