Electrical submersible pumping system (ESP) solid management y-tool
A system includes a solids catcher that is centered with respect to a central axis of a tubing. The system includes an inner annulus, an outer annulus, and a chamber between the inner annulus and the outer annulus. A solids accumulation zone is formed in the chamber. A pump disposed offset from the central axis of the tubing. The pump is fluidly connected to the solids catcher through the outer annulus. A fluid stream carrying solids flowing from the pump. The fluid stream carrying solids is configured to follow a path delimited by the outer annulus and the chamber until the fluid stream deposits the solids in the solids accumulation zone and departs the solids catcher via the inner annulus into a tubing.

BEHIND CASING WASH AND CEMENT
The invention relates to a method of conducting a perf wash cement (“P/W/C”) abandonment job in an offshore oil or gas well annulus (2), in particular the washing or cementing operation using a rotating head (6, 8) with nozzles (7, 9) dispensing wash fluid or cement at pressure. Certain values of parameters of a washing or cementing job have been found surprisingly to affect the quality of the job, or the degree to which they affect the quality of the job has been unexpected. These include including rotation rate of the tool, the direction of translational movement of the tool, and the volume flow rate and pressure per nozzle of cement or wash fluid (and hence nozzle size).
Sand flushing above blanking plug
A system for producing fluids from a wellbore extending from a well surface to a fluid-producing formation has a Y-tool installed in fluid communication with the tubing string placed in the wellbore. A pump, which may be an electric submersible pump (ESP), is installed in the Y-tool for lifting fluids from the formation to the surface. A blanking plug is positioned in the tubing string between the upper and lower connections of the Y-tool. A flushing port extends through a wall of the tubing string, positioned above and near the upper end of the blanking plug when in its operating position, and a flushing tube is located in the annular space between the tubing string and the wellbore casing. The flushing tube is in fluid communication with the flushing port and extends from the flushing port to the well surface. Flushing fluid is pumped downhole through the flushing tube to agitate and disperse any accumulated sand, scale and other particulate matter on top of the blanking plug.

Method to manipulate a well using an underbalanced pressure container
A method to manipulate a well comprising providing an apparatus (60) in a well (14) below a packer (22) or other annular sealing device, the apparatus comprising a container (68) having a volume of gas which is sealed at the surface and nm into the well, such that the pressure in the container (68) is at a lower pressure than the surrounding well. When the apparatus is below the packer, a wireless control signal, is sent to operate a valve assembly (62) to selectively allow fluid to enter the container whereby at least 50 litres of fluid is drawn into the container. In this way, the apparatus can be used independent of perforating guns, to clear perforations or other areas in the well or may be used for a variety of tests such as an interval test, drawdown test or a connectivity test such as a pulse or interference test.

DOWNHOLE TOOL WITH A PROPELLANT CHARGE
A method of removing material from a target is described. The method comprises the steps of providing a tool, the tool having at least one propellant source; pressurising the tool to a pressure higher than the environmental pressure; igniting at least one of the propellant source(s) to form a combustion zone; and directing combustion products generated at the combustion zone along at least one tool flow path. The tool flow path(s) is selectively openable or closable, such that upon exiting the tool flow path(s) the combustion products interact with a target, the interaction causing material to be removed from the target.
