Adaptive tractor wheel
Provided are tractor wheels for a downhole tractor. An example tractor wheel comprises a series of continuous springs disposed on the circumference of the tractor wheel, wherein the individual continuous springs in the series of continuous springs are separated by a gap, and a void disposed on the interior of the tractor wheel and that is continuous about the circumference of the tractor wheel.
SHAFT ENLARGEMENT ARRANGEMENT FOR A BORING SYSTEM
A shaft enlargement arrangement for a boring system is provided, the shaft enlargement arrangement comprising a hollow column proximate a lower end of the boring system; a first cutter head that is rotatably fitted to the hollow column, with first drive means being provided to rotate the first cutter head relative to the hollow column so as to bore downwardly a hole having a diameter corresponding substantially to the diameter of the first cutter head; and a boring head arrangement fitted to an operatively lower end of the column, the boring head arrangement terminating in a second cutter head to bore a leading hole as the boring system proceeds to bore downwardly. In an embodiment, the first cutter head comprises a support body carrying a winged arrangement, the support body being rotatably fitted to the column, the winged arrangement comprising a plurality of wings extending from the support body, each wing being fitted with, or comprising, a plurality of first cutter elements.
SHAFT ENLARGEMENT ARRANGEMENT FOR A BORING SYSTEM
A shaft enlargement arrangement for a boring system is provided, the shaft enlargement arrangement comprising a hollow column proximate a lower end of the boring system; a first cutter head that is rotatably fitted to the hollow column, with first drive means being provided to rotate the first cutter head relative to the hollow column so as to bore downwardly a hole having a diameter corresponding substantially to the diameter of the first cutter head; and a boring head arrangement fitted to an operatively lower end of the column, the boring head arrangement terminating in a second cutter head to bore a leading hole as the boring system proceeds to bore downwardly. In an embodiment, the first cutter head comprises a support body carrying a winged arrangement, the support body being rotatably fitted to the column, the winged arrangement comprising a plurality of wings extending from the support body, each wing being fitted with, or comprising, a plurality of first cutter elements.
Modular anti-rotation drilling systems and methods
A modular anti-rotation device for preventing rotation with respect to the central axis of a drilling tool in a borehole and for producing a notch in a borehole surface. The anti-rotation device includes an upper fixture portion and a lower fixture portion in axial alignment. The upper fixture portion and the lower fixture portion are connected by yoke assemblies. Each yoke assembly is connected to the fixture portion and fixture portion at one end, and forming an articulated joint of the upper yoke assembly and the lower yoke assembly at a distal end opposite the first end. A roller is connected at each joint, connecting the upper and lower yoke assemblies. The rollers engage vertically with a borehole surface, the rollers travelling axially, as a drill shaft penetrates into the borehole, the rollers simultaneously preventing radial movement of the anti-rotation device and prevent rotation with respect to the central axis of the borehole.
Modular anti-rotation drilling systems and methods
A modular anti-rotation device for preventing rotation with respect to the central axis of a drilling tool in a borehole and for producing a notch in a borehole surface. A downhole tool for determining laterals in a borehole wall or a borehole casing, comprising a tool housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having a circumference perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a plurality of sonic transceivers. Each sonic transceiver transmitting sonic signals from the housing and receiving sonic signals reflected from the borehole wall or borehole casing in a predefined angular segment. The sonic transceivers are arranged along the circumference of the tool housing having a mutual distance and are capable of transmitting sonic signals radially away from the tool housing in an entire central angle of 360 degrees towards the borehole wall or borehole casing. During a pulse time, one sonic transceiver transmits a sonic signal in the predefined angular segment of that sonic transmitter, and one sonic transceiver, during a subsequent echo time, receives a reflected sonic signal from the borehole wall or borehole casing.
Downhole tool for determining laterals
A downhole tool for determining laterals in a borehole wall or a borehole casing, comprising a tool housing extending along a longitudinal axis and having a circumference perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a plurality of sonic transceivers. Each sonic transceiver transmitting sonic signals from the housing and receiving sonic signals reflected from the borehole wall or borehole casing in a predefined angular segment. The sonic transceivers are arranged along the circumference of the tool housing having a mutual distance and are capable of transmitting sonic signals radially away from the tool housing in an entire central angle of 360 degrees towards the borehole wall or borehole casing. DOWNHOLE TRACTOR CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO ADJUST A LOAD OF A DOWNHOLE MOTOR
Downhole tractor control systems and methods to adjust a load of a downhole motor to drive one or more wheels of the downhole tractor are disclosed. A method to adjust a load of a downhole motor includes receiving a user input of a desired speed and torque for a plurality of motors, where the plurality of motors powering rotation of wheels of a downhole tractor. The method also includes determining a minimum actual motor speed of the plurality of motors. For at least one motor of the plurality of motors, the method includes determining a power controller output and determining a torque controller output. The method further includes adjusting a voltage source invertor based on a lesser of the power controller output and the torque controller output to modulate voltage provided to the at least one motor.
DOWNHOLE TRACTOR CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO ADJUST A LOAD OF A DOWNHOLE MOTOR
Downhole tractor control systems and methods to adjust a load of a downhole motor to drive one or more wheels of the downhole tractor are disclosed. ROCK-PIERCING FLEXIBLE ROCK DRILLING ROBOT AND ROCK BREAKING METHOD
A rock-piercing flexible rock drilling robot and a rock breaking method therefor are disclosed. The robot includes a control system, a head, and at least one tail. The head includes a head housing, a propulsion turntable, a drilling mechanism, a hydraulic propulsion system, a first driving mechanism, and a second driving mechanism. The propulsion turntable includes a drill bit located at a center thereof and a cutting turntable arranged around the drill bit. The first driving mechanism is connected to the drill bit, and the second driving mechanism is connected to the cutting turntable. The tail includes a tail housing, an advancing and retreating power system, and a fixed support system. The head and the tail are connected through a flexible component, and the tails are connected through flexible components.
