The high-voltage power supply may include an array of capacitors, which may include multiple rows of capacitors. The rows of capacitors may be parallel with a symmetric cross section as viewed from an end of the array of capacitors. The high-voltage power supply may also include diodes electrically coupled to the array of capacitors.
Sensor node device, sensor node system, and method for mapping hydraulic fractures using the same
A sensor node system for mapping hydraulic fractures may include a localization system that identifies location information of the sensor node device with respect to an area of interest in a rock formation. The location information may include various magnetization parameters indicative of various signal strengths surrounding the sensor node device. The sensor node device may include a transceiver that exchanges signals with a base station and at least one other sensor node device. The transceiver establishes a communication link between the base station and the sensor node device. The transceiver may monitor at least one other communication link between the at least one other sensor node device and the base station. The sensor node device may include a processor that identifies distance information based on the location information and a predetermined number of signals associated to the various signal strengths surrounding the sensor node device.
DOWNHOLE POWER GENERATION DEVICES AND METHOD FOR GENERATING POWER DOWNHOLE
A downhole electrical power generation device is provided that includes at least one magnetic element, an electrically conductive element, and a member configured to be positioned within downhole fluid and to vibrate when the downhole fluid flows across a surface of the member. One of the magnetic element and the electrically conductive element is positioned on the member, and the other is configured to be positioned such that the electrically conductive element is located in a magnetic field produced by the at least one magnetic element to generate electrical power on vibration of the member. A method of generating electrical power downhole is further provided.
Electric Power Distribution for Fracturing Operation
Providing electric power distribution for fracturing operations comprising receiving, at a transport, electric power from a mobile source of electricity at a first voltage level and supplying, from the transport, the electric power to a fracturing pump transport at the first voltage level using only a first, single cable connection. The first voltage level falls within a range of 1,000 V to 35 kilovolts. The transport also supplies electric power to a second transport at the first voltage level using only a second, single cable connection.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL POWER IN AN ORGANIC RANKINE CYCLE OPERATION
Systems and methods for generating and a controller for controlling generation of geothermal power in an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) operation to thereby supply electrical power to one or more of in-field operational equipment, a grid power structure, and an energy storage device. In an embodiment, during hydrocarbon production, a temperature of a flow of heated fluid from a source or working fluid may be determined. If the temperature is above a vaporous phase change threshold of the working fluid, heat exchanger valves may be opened to divert flow of heated fluid to heat exchangers to facilitate heat transfer from the flow of wellhead fluid to working fluid through the heat exchangers, thereby to cause the working fluid to change from a liquid to vapor, the vapor to cause a generator to generate electrical power via rotation of an expander.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL POWER AT A DRILLING RIG
Embodiments of systems and methods for generating power in the vicinity of a drilling rig are disclosed. During a drilling operation, heat generated by drilling fluid flowing from a borehole, exhaust from an engine, and/or fluid from an engine's water (or other fluid) jacket, for example, may be utilized by corresponding heat exchangers to facilitate heat transfer to a working fluid. The heated working fluid may cause an ORC unit to generate electrical power.
DRILLING RIG POWER SUPPLY BUS MANAGEMENT
A power system and method for the adaptive power control of a drilling rig. While operating the internal combustion engine in its efficient operating range, unrequired mechanical power is converted to electrical power for storage, or use via the electrical bus on the rig. When the internal combustion engine is not required to provide mechanical or electrical power it is deactivated, and then reactivated—electrical storage on the system in the meantime providing electrical power to the bus as required. The power supply and management system could be retroactively fitted to an existing drilling rig by the incorporation of a generator and electrical storage device thereon. The system and method of the present invention allow for the optimized use of combustion-based power on a drilling rig while minimizing environmental emissions from the idle running of the at least one internal combustion engine.

The battery control unit includes a management module and a variable resistor. The primary battery pack supplies power at lower temperatures, while the secondary battery pack supplies power at higher temperatures. The primary battery pack is unsafe at higher temperatures, and the primary cells within the primary battery pack are modified to mitigate the dangers that previously rendered the primary battery pack unusable in a hybrid battery pack at higher temperatures. The invention includes the method of safely operating the hybrid battery system with the modified primary battery cells of the primary battery pack.
