FIELD-WIDE CONTINUOUS GAS LIFT OPTIMIZATION UNDER RESOURCE AND OPERATIONAL CONSTRAINTS
A method can include receiving production fluid flow rate data from a well in a field that includes a plurality of wells; generating a gas lift profile for the well using the production fluid flow rate data; solving a system of equations representing at least two gas lift profiles for at least two of the plurality of wells to generate results; and issuing an instruction based at least in part on the results to control gas lift for production of fluid by the well.
Apparatus and methods for a gas lift valve
A system and method for controlling production fluid flow between an annular chamber extending between a casing disposed in a downhole bore and production tubing disposed in the casing. An electrically down hole control valve which includes a motor, a position sensor, a gearbox and a linear actuator coupled to the gearbox to convert rotational movement to an axial movement. The control valve further includes a connecting rod coupled to the linear actuator and a valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a gate that can translate in an axial direction to a plurality of continuously variable positions between a fully closed position and a fully open position. A plurality of such control valves can be disposed in respective openings formed in the production tubing, and a passage is formed in each valve for connecting the annular chamber and the production tubing interior. The valves are selectively closed and selectively opened to permit fluid flow to and from the chamber, through the passage, and to and from the interior of the production tubing. Thus, the volume of fluid passing to and from the chamber, through the valve members, and to and from the interior of the production tubing is controlled.
Unibody bypass plunger and valve cage with sealable ports
A bypass plunger includes a unibody, or one-piece hollow body and valve cage, retains a dart valve within the valve cage portion using a threaded retaining nut secured by crimple detents, and includes sealable flow parts. A series of helical grooves surround the central portion of the outer surface of the hollow body of the plunger to control spin during descent. A canted-coil-spring disposed within the retaining nut functions as a clutch. The valve cage includes ports that may be configured to control flow through the plunger during descent. Other embodiments include clutch assemblies using canted-coil springs with split bobbins, and surfaced valve stems surfaced.
Method and apparatus for sealing a side pocket mandrel
A method for sealing a side pocket mandrel and hydraulic tube includes moving a sealant dispenser into a pocket of the side pocket mandrel from within a well tubing. The sealant dispenser has an upper seal and a lower seal spaced apart therefrom; the seals are sealingly engaged with the pocket. A space between the upper seal and the lower seal is in fluid communication with at least one port in the pocket. A curable sealant is moved from the sealant dispenser into the pocket and into the tube. Either the sealant is allowed to cure or the sealant dispenser is unlatched from a running tool used to move the sealant dispenser into the pocket.
Downhole device with signal transmitter
A downhole device for installation in a petroleum well, comprising a sensor, a controller and a power source. The device further comprises an acoustic speaker configured to output a sound signal from the downhole device to a fiber optic cable in the well.
Method for fluid flow optimization in a wellbore
Disclosed is a method and system for fluid flow optimization within a wellbore for gas-lift operations and control of slug flows within the wellbore by utilizing a plurality of electronically controlled valves coupled to a tubing string. Selective actuation of the valves includes incremental opening or closing of an individual valve between a fully open, fully closed, or partial opening of a particular valve. Pressure measurements inside and outside of the tubing string are measured in real-time near the valve to help maintain the desired pressure distribution within the wellbore and to measure and control a pressure differential at a selected valve. Actuation of the valves may be electronically controlled at a remote location by electronic command signals or may be performed automatically by the downhole valves with or without input by a remote system.
Self-adjusting gas lift system
A self-adjusting gas lift system and corresponding self-adjusting gas lift valve (GLV) are described herein. The self-adjusting gas lift system includes a number of self-adjusting GLVs that fluidically couple an annulus of a well to an interior of a production tubing of the well. Each of the self-adjusting GLVs is configured to open to allow a compressed gas to flow from the annulus to the interior of the production tubing when a pressure differential between an injection pressure of the compressed gas within the annulus and a production pressure of fluids within the production tubing is within an engineered range. Each of the self-adjusting GLVs is also configured to close when the pressure differential is outside the engineered range.
APPARATUS FOR TCA BLEED OFF AND WELL START-UP
A treatment system comprises a treatment bladder associated with a volume of a tubing-casing annulus of a wellhead system to be treated. The treatment bladder contains a treatment fluid and is at an elevated pressure. The treatment bladder is coupled to the tubing-casing annulus utilizing a fluid conduit through a lower fluid junction. The fluid conduit permits two-way fluid communication between the treatment bladder and the tubing-casing annulus. A method for treating the tubing-casing annulus includes coupling the treatment bladder containing the treatment fluid of the treatment system to the tubing-casing annulus of the wellhead system using the fluid conduit, establishing two-way fluid communication between the tubing-casing annulus and the treatment bladder though the fluid conduit, halting fluid communication though the fluid conduit, and decoupling the treatment bladder from the tubing-casing annulus.
Hydrocarbon Wells Including Tracer Systems and Methods of Tracing a Flow Path of Lift Gas Within a Hydrocarbon Well Utilizing a Radioactive Tracer
The hydrocarbon wells include a radioactive tracer system, a production conduit, a lift gas supply conduit, a lift gas supply system configured to provide a lift gas stream to the lift gas supply conduit, and one or more gas lift valves each being configured to selectively permit lift gas to enter the production conduit and mix with reservoir liquid therein to generate a produced fluid stream. The radioactive tracer system is configured to inject a radioactive tracer into the lift gas stream and to detect the radioactive tracer within the produced fluid stream. The methods include injecting the radioactive tracer into the lift gas stream, flowing the radioactive tracer through an open gas lift valve into the production conduit, mixing the radioactive tracer with the reservoir liquid to generate a tracer-marked liquid band within the produced fluid stream, and detecting radiation from the tracer-marked liquid band.
Check valve assembly
A check valve may include a housing having a bore therethrough, the bore including an inner surface and a bearing face; a check seat adaptor coupled to the housing; a seal in the housing, the seal including a seat bore; and a dart disposed in the bore between the seal and the bearing face and axially moveable between closed and open positions. The dart may include a tail and a head that has at least one dart inlet and sealingly engages the seal when the valve is closed. The tail defines an inner chamber having an outlet that is in fluid communication with the bore. The dart inlet(s), the inner chamber, and the outlet may be in fluid communication and together define a dart flow path through the dart. A biasing device may urge the dart toward the seal.
