MOTOR DRIVE SHAFT SPRING CLUTCH IN ELECTRICAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
An electrical submersible well pump assembly has shaft couplings. One of the couplings has a lower hub that rotates in unison with the motor shaft and an upper hub that rotates in unison with the pump shaft. A helical spring clutch engages both hubs when the motor shaft is being driven by the motor. Ceasing driving rotation of the motor shaft causes the spring clutch to disengage from the upper hub, enabling the pump shaft to rotate the upper hub without rotating the lower hub.
Lubricating downhole-type rotating machines
A downhole-type device includes an electric machine. The electric machine includes an electrical rotor configured to couple with a device to drive or be driven by the electric machine. An electrical stator surrounds the electric rotor. The electric stator includes a seal configured to isolate stator windings from an outside, downhole environment. An inner surface of the seal and an outer surface of the electric rotor define an annulus exposed to the outside environment. A bearing couples the electric rotor to the electric stator. A lubrication system is fluidically coupled to the downhole-type device. The lubrication system includes a topside pressure pump and a downhole-type distribution manifold configured to be used within a wellbore. The distribution manifold is fluidically connected to the topside pressure pump and the bearing to receive a flow of lubricant from the topside pressure pump.
Stinger for actuating surface-controlled subsurface safety valve
A system used downhole in tubing is operable with pressure communicated via at least one control line. The system includes a tool and a stinger. The tool disposed with the tubing has a tool bore for passage of tubing flow. The tool has an operator movable between operable states, and the operator has a tool key disposed in the bore. The stinger removably disposed in the tubing is configured to insert into the tool bore. The stinger has an actuator in communication with the at least one control line. Actuated by the control line, a stinger key disposed on the stinger is movable with the actuator between positions. In this way, the stinger key is configured to engage the tool key and is configured to move the tool's operator at least from the one state to another.
Downhole electric switch
Systems and methods include a system for controlling a downhole multi-circuit switch using a downhole actuator mechanism. A command is sent, by a surface controller coupled to downhole electrically-powered equipment in a wellbore of a well, to change electrical power flow in a multi-circuit switch to a specified position of multiple positions. A connection between the surface controller and the downhole electrically-powered equipment includes at least two separate input electrical connections for supplying electrical power to the downhole electrically-powered equipment. The command is received by a downhole actuator mechanism from the surface controller. The command indicates to switch from a first electrical connection of the at least two separate input electrical connections to a second electrical connection of the at least two separate input electrical connections. The multi-circuit switch is switched by the downhole actuator mechanism based on the command to change a power source of the downhole electrically-powered equipment, including isolating a first input electrical connection.
Method and system of producing hydrocarbons using data-driven inferred production
A method of predicting hydrocarbon production from one or more artificial lift wells is disclosed. Test data is obtained from the artificial lift well. A decline curve model, representing well performance, is generated for one or more fluids in the artificial lift well. Measurement values are obtained from an artificial lift operation. For each of the obtained measurement values, a measurement model is generated that correlates the measurement values to the decline curve. A Kalman filter is used to predict production outputs of at least one of oil, gas, and water for the well, and to generate an uncertainty range for the predicted production outputs. The Kalman filter uses the decline curves to predict the production outputs, and uses the measurement models to correct and/or update the predicted production outputs. Hydrocarbon production activities are modified using the corrected and/or updated predicted production outputs.
Artificial lift assembly
An artificial lift assembly and method relating thereto is designed to prevent inadvertent electrical discharge caused by fluids flowing through an electrical submersible pumping system, which is part of the assembly. The assembly uses a rupture disc to prevent fluid flow during introduction of the assembly into a wellbore and a dart and sleeve to prevent fluid flow during removal of the assembly from the wellbore.
CENTRIFUGAL WELL PUMP WITH THREADEDLY COUPLED DIFFUSERS
A well pump includes a plurality of diffusers, wherein each diffuser comprises a first threaded coupling on one longitudinal end and a second threaded coupling on an opposed longitudinal end. An impeller is disposed in each diffuser. The plurality of diffusers are coupled end to end to form a pump housing, in which the first threaded coupling on one diffuser is threadedly engaged to the second threaded coupling on adjacent diffuser.
ELECTRICAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMP WITH PROXIMITY SENSOR
A system and method for producing fluid from a subterranean wellbore that includes an electrical submersible pump (“ESP”) system and a receptacle. The ESP system is landed in the receptacle while sensing the presence of the ESP system with respect to the receptacle. The ESP system includes a motor, a pump, a monitoring sub, and a stinger on the lower end of the pump. A sensor on the receptacle detects the position of the stinger within the receptacle, and provides an indication that the stinger has inserted a designated length into the receptacle so that a fluid tight seal is formed between the stinger and receptacle.
Downhole Separation Efficiency Technology to Produce Wells Through a Dual Completion
Systems and methods for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean well include a fluid production tubular and a gas production tubular extending separately into the well. An electrical submersible pump is in fluid communication with the fluid production tubular. A cyclone separator is within the well. The cyclone separator has a rotating screw with thread surfaces open to an inner diameter surface of the well. The rotating screw is positioned between a lower end of the gas production tubular and the electrical submersible pump. The thread surfaces are angled to direct a liquid stream axially downward and radially outward towards the inner diameter surface of the well. A central passage extends through the rotating screw and is oriented to direct a gas stream towards the lower end of the gas production tubular.
