Method to manipulate a well using an overbalanced pressure container
A method to manipulate a well, comprising running an apparatus (60a) having a container (68a) with a volume of gas at a higher pressure than a surrounding portion of the well. The well is isolated, and a wireless control signal, such as an electromagnetic or acoustic signal, is sent to operate a valve assembly (62a) to selectively allow or resist fluid exit from a portion of the container (68a), via a port (61a). Some of the pressurised gas may itself be expelled in to the surrounding portion of the well, or it may be used to drive a fluid out of the container, such as an acid.
On-site conversion of a flammable wellbore gas to an oleaginous liquid
Methods and systems for treating a subterranean formation. An example method performs a wellbore operation with a first treatment fluid, removes a flammable gaseous hydrocarbon from a well penetrating the subterranean formation; wherein the well is disposed on a wellsite, introduces the flammable gaseous hydrocarbon into a gas-to-liquid reactor located on the wellsite to produce an oleaginous liquid, produces a second treatment fluid comprising the oleaginous liquid at the wellsite, and introduces the second treatment fluid into the well.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PRESSURE PROTECTION
Disclosed are compositions and methods for the pressure protection of existing wells during infill drilling operations.
Monitoring health of additive systems
A monitoring system operable to monitor an oilfield additive system having multiple components. The oilfield additive system is operable to transfer an additive-containing substance for injection into a wellbore. The monitoring system includes sensors each associated with, and operable to generate information related to an operational parameter of, a corresponding one of the oilfield additive system components. The monitoring system also includes a monitoring device in communication with the sensors and operable to record the information generated by the sensors to generate a database. The database includes information indicative of maintenance aspects of the oilfield additive system and/or the oilfield additive system components.
Systems and methods to increase the durability of carbonate reservoir acidizing
Systems and methods for predicting and optimizing the effects of acidizing treatment of carbonate rock are disclosed. The disclosed methods predict the conflicting effects of increased production (i.e., wormhole creation) and reduced rock compressive strength due to acid rock reactions. The mechanical stability of stimulated wellbores, such as horizontal wellbores, can be determined under different acidizing conditions, such as acid type and volume. The acidizing conditions can be optimized to maximize short and long-term production.
AIR LIFTING SAND
An apparatus and method for extracting sand from an underground sandstone formation. The apparatus comprising: a conduit having an upper end and a lower end to engage a sandstone formation, a gas injection line to inject gas at an injection point, wherein the gas injected at the injection point generates a low pressure region at the lower end to draw a sand slurry from the sandstone formation, and a collection port proximate to the upper end of the conduit wherein the sand slurry in the conduit is to be removed. The method comprising: lowering a pipe and air injection line into a sandstone formation, injecting air into the pipe to create a low pressure region at a lower end of the pipe to draw a sand slurry from the formation, and collecting the sand slurry at a collection port.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PRESSURE PROTECTION
Disclosed are compositions and methods for the pressure protection of existing wells during infill drilling operations.
FOAMED WETTABILITY ALTERATION TREATMENT FOR DEEP CONDENSATE AND WATER BLOCKAGE IN GAS RESERVOIRS
A formation treatment fluid may include a wettability alteration agent, a solvent, an injection gas, and an optional foaming agent. The wettability alteration agent may include a fluorinated surfactant, a silicon-based surfactant, charged nanoparticles partially modified with fluorine containing groups, or combinations thereof. Methods for altering a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir surface wettability may include providing the formation treatment fluid, injecting the formation treatment fluid into the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir, and recovering fluids produced from the hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir.
Producing hydrocarbons
A method and apparatus for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation. A first well is provided in the formation, the first well being separated by an isolating material into at least a first and second zone, the first zone being substantially isolated from the second zone. A second well is provided in the formation. The second well is separated by an isolating material into at least a first and second zone, the first zone being substantially isolated from the second zone. A first fracture is provided in the formation, the first fracture extending substantially between the first zones. A second fracture is provided in the formation, the second fracture extending substantially between the second zones of the first and second wells. A fluid is injected into the formation from the first zone in the first well. Hydrocarbons are produced at the second zone of the second well.
Gas diverter for well and reservoir stimulation
The disclosure provides a method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore. The method includes introducing a gas phase gas into fractures of the subterranean formation extending from the wellbore, followed by introducing a carrier fluid into the subterranean formation under sufficient pressure to fracture a portion of the subterranean formation and release hydrocarbons from the subterranean formation. The gas phase gas occupies the fractures at a sufficient pressure to cause the carrier fluid to be diverted to additional fractures of the subterranean formation defined by the portion.
