Gas meter and associated methods
A device which: optically detects the presence of, measures the flow rate of, and identifies the characteristics of venting fugitive gas emissions. Specifically the device provides a spectral analysis of emission gas constituents; selective detection of the presence of venting hydrocarbons; measurement of venting emissions flow rates, the measurement of shut-in and flowing venting system pressures and the venting system temperatures. The flow rates are corrected, relative to the detection of the gas constituents and standard temperature and pressure (STP). These devices are configured to collect such data electronically and transmit via various telemetry systems, to a secure remote data network for reporting, access, evaluation, real-time monitoring and archiving as required.
PASSIVE PRODUCTION LOGGING INSTRUMENT USING HEAT AND DISTRIBUTED ACOUSTIC SENSING
A system for measuring fluid flow in a wellbore is provided. A probe includes at least a heater. A fiber optic cable is connected to the probe. The system is programmed to perform operations including: changing an output of the heater to thereby change a temperature of drilling fluid moving over a fiber optic cable; measuring a strain on the fiber optic cable caused by changing the temperature of the drilling fluid; preliminarily determining a velocity of the drilling fluid from the measured strain; measuring at least a second parameter of the drilling fluid; adjusting the preliminary determined velocity based on the measured at least a second parameter to yield an adjusted velocity; and determining a flow rate of the drilling fluid based on the adjusted velocity.
Fluid component determination using thermal properties
Methods for determining phase fractions of a downhole fluid via thermal properties of the fluids are provided. In one embodiment, a method includes measuring a temperature of a fluid flowing through a completion string downhole in a well and heating a resistive element of a thermal detector at a position along the completion string downhole in the well by applying power to the resistive element such that heat from the resistive element is transmitted to the fluid flowing by the position. The method also includes determining, via the thermal detector, a flow velocity of the fluid through the completion string and multiple thermal properties of the fluid, and using the determined flow velocity and the multiple thermal properties to determine phase fractions of the fluid. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Remote wellhead integrity and sub-surface safety valve test
A method for remotely testing wellhead integrity of a well is disclosed. The method includes connecting valves and associated gauges of the well remotely to a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, obtaining real time pressure and temperature readings through the SCADA system, detecting, using a thermal infrared camera installed at a wellhead tree and flow lines of the well, potential oil/gas leak, and determining, by the SCADA system and based at least on the real time pressure and temperature readings and a detection result of the thermal infrared camera, integrity of the valves.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING FRACTURING OPERATIONS USING MONITOR WELL FLOW
An apparatus for use in fracturing wells includes a body defining and coupled to a wellhead of a well extending through a subsurface formation with the flow path being in communication with a wellbore of the well. The apparatus includes a flow meter in communication with the flow path and configured to measure a flow attribute of fluid from the wellbore along the flow path. The apparatus further includes a computing device communicatively coupled to the flow meter. The computing device is operable to receive a flow attribute measurement from the flow meter and to transmit an indicator in response to determining that the flow attribute measurement indicates interaction of a fracture in the subsurface formation with the well.
