The drilling rig includes a casing drive for rotating the casing string in the borehole, a control system for controlling the casing drive, and a mud pump for pumping a continuous flow of drilling mud into the casing string. The BHA includes a torque transfer section, with which it is secured in the casing string, and a drill bit section held in a drilling position in the torque transfer section. It further includes a mud drive that rotates the drilling position of the drill bit section about the longitudinal axis of the torque transfer section, and a communicating device for communicating the orientation of the drill bit to the control system. The BHA is steered by adjusting the rotational speed of the casing string.
Controllable drilling head
A controllable drilling head for a drill string for ground drilling with a drilling head tip and a locating pin that carries the drilling head tip, the drilling head tip having a bore slanted to the longitudinal axis and the locating pin being angled to the longitudinal axis, wherein the drilling head tip can rotate on the locating pin, the drilling head tip and the locating pin being arranged in a first angular position relative to one another for straight drilling, and the drilling head tip and the locating pin being arranged in a second angular position relative to one another for drilling that deviates from straight drilling.
EFFICIENT AND INTELLIGENT STEERING DRILLING SYSTEM AND DRILLING METHOD
A high efficiency smart steering drilling system includes a smart push force application tool and a centralizer. The centralizer is at an end close to a drill bit. The smart push force application tool is at an end away from the drill bit and includes a push force application wing rib having a telescoping function. The smart push force application tool is capable of automatically measuring an inclination angle and an azimuth angle and comparing the inclination angle and the azimuth angle with design values so as to control the push force application wing rib to output a push force in a telescopic manner based on a difference between the measured values and the design values and applying a push force to the drill bit. The drilling system achieves combined deflection under double action of drill bit push and pointing, greatly improving the deflection capability.
DRILLING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR USE WITH ROTATING DRILL PIPE
A drilling apparatus connectable with a drill pipe and connectable with a drilling assembly comprising a drilling assembly housing, for use in drilling a borehole, including a rotation restraining device actuatable between a retracted position and an extended position, a rotation restraining device actuator for actuating the rotation restraining device between the retracted position and the extended position, a swivel actuatable between a locked position and an unlocked position, and a swivel actuator for actuating the swivel between the locked position and the unlocked position. A method for drilling a borehole, including connecting a drilling assembly with a drill pipe, wherein the drilling assembly comprises a drilling assembly housing, drilling while rotating the drill pipe and thereby rotating the drilling assembly housing, and drilling while rotating the drill pipe relative to the drilling assembly housing.
Steering assembly control valve
Control valves can allow a well operator to steer a drill string. An exemplary control valve can include a valve body with an axial bore and a radial orifice in fluid communication with the axial bore, wherein flow passing through the axial bore passes through the radial orifice and into a piston flow channel to be in fluid communication with a piston bore to exert pressure against a piston movable within the piston bore, the piston being coupled a steering pad for applying force against the wellbore wall. A rotary valve element is disposed within the axial bore and including an actuation flow channel, wherein the rotary valve element is rotatable with respect to the axial bore to change flow through the actuation channel and the radial orifice to modify fluid pressure within the piston flow channel that is exerted against the piston.

Dynamic system for field motor operations
A method can include providing a trained drilling motor model trained via machine learning based at least in part on drilling motor simulation results; instantiating a motor engine component with an interface in a computational environment; and, responsive to receipt of a call via the interface, returning drilling motor information based at least in part on the trained drilling motor model.
Estimation of downhole torque based on directional measurements
A method of estimating torque includes disposing at least one measurement assembly at a downhole component, the at least one measurement assembly including a first set of directional sensors disposed at a first axial location along the downhole component, and a second set of directional sensors disposed at a second axial location along the downhole component. The method also includes collecting directional measurement data from the first set of directional sensors and the second set of directional sensors during rotation of the downhole component, and estimating, by a processing device, an amount of torque on the downhole component based on the directional measurement data.
