The plurality of compressor trains can be operated in parallel.
Apparatus, systems, and methods for wireless monitoring of gas turbine engine temperature
A system for wirelessly monitoring temperatures of a gas turbine engine comprising a wireless sensor positioned on or in a component of the engine, one or more interrogating antennas capable of transmitting an RF signal to the wireless sensor and receiving an RF return signal from the wireless sensor, and a processing unit capable of interpreting the RF return signal to determine a temperature of the component inside the engine. In an embodiment, the wireless sensor comprises polymer derived ceramics (“PDC”) deposited on an Inconel surface of the engine. In an embodiment, the wireless sensor sustains temperatures up to 1000° C. during long term operation of the part of the engine. In an embodiment, the wireless sensor comprises multiple layers including a metallic patch antenna, a PDC layer, and a bond coat which provides a metallic ground plane for the sensor.
Defrosting a drain hole
The invention relates to an assembly (10) for a turbomachine comprising a pipe (12) connected at one end (12a) to means (14) for supplying pressurized air and at one opposite end (12b) to an item of equipment (16) of the turbomachine, the pipe (12) having a bent portion (12c) intended for forming in use a low point of the pipe (12), said bent portion (12c) having a hole (18) for first draining water from the pipe (12), wherein it further comprises an orifice (20) arranged downstream of the drain hole (18).
GAS TURBINE SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND ASSOCIATED SHUTTER MECHANISM
A turbine engine including a stationary component having a probe opening, a plurality of rotor blades rotatable relative to the stationary component, and a sensor assembly disposed within the probe opening. The sensor assembly includes a sensor and a shutter mechanism having a shutter frame with a sensing window and at least one leaf member coupled to the shutter frame. The sensor assembly includes an actuator including a rotatable member having a receiving slot and a stator having a stopper member within the receiving slot. The rotatable member rotates relative to the stator over a range of motion defined relative to the stopper member, and the rotatable member is coupled to the at least one leaf member such that rotating the rotatable member in a first direction uncovers the sensing window, and such that counter-rotating the rotatable member in a second direction covers the sensing window with the at least one leaf member. Selectively covering the sensor when not in use protects the sensor from exposure to harsh conditions, extending its operative life.
Contamination sensor for gas turbine engines
A contamination sensor for a gas turbine engine is disclosed herein. The contamination sensor is made of a selected composition of material and includes a base alloy, an alloy for improving oxide formation, and at least one element from the transition metal group. The composition of the contamination sensor can be adjusted to react with specific contaminants at specific temperature ranges.
Monitoring device, method for monitoring target device, and program
An acquisition unit is configured to acquire measurement values of a target device. The measurement values that are acquired include at least a temperature and a flow rate of an input fluid to be input to the target device, and a temperature and a flow rate of an output fluid to be output from the target device. A correction unit is configured to obtain a correction measurement value by which the measurement values are corrected through thermal equilibrium calculations based on the measurement values. A distance calculation unit is configured to calculate a Mahalanobis distance with a factor of the correction measurement value.
Methods for health monitoring of ceramic matrix composite components in gas turbine engines
A method comprises inspecting a ceramic matrix composite component assembled in a gas turbine engine to determine an extent of damage to the ceramic matrix composite component, determining a repair technique to repair the damage to the ceramic matrix composite component based on the extent of damage to the ceramic matrix composite component, and repairing the ceramic matrix composite component using the repair technique.
