The hybrid electric engine further includes an electric generator configured to convert rotational power of the high or low speed spool to electricity and a variable area turbine control system electrically connected to the electric generator. The variable area turbine control system being configured to adjust a cross-sectional area of a core flow path of the hybrid electric engine. The variable area turbine control system including a plurality of variable turbine vanes located in the turbine section and a variable area turbine actuator configured to rotate each of the plurality of variable turbine vanes to adjust the cross-sectional area of the core flow path of the hybrid electric engine. The variable area turbine actuator is an electromechanical actuator.
DYNAMIC INSTRUMENTATION ASSEMBLY TO MEASURE PROPERTIES OF AN ENGINE EXHAUST STREAM
An instrumentation assembly configured to measure properties of an engine exhaust stream is disclosed in this paper. The instrumentation assembly may include an outer support ring that extends around a central axis, an inner support ring arranged radially inward of the outer support ring around the central axis, and a plurality of instrumentation rake assemblies. The plurality of instrumentation rake assemblies extends from the outer support ring to the inner support ring across an annular passageway defined between the outer support ring and the inner support ring configured to carry the engine exhaust stream.

REGULATING FLOW THROUGH A TURBO EXPANDER GENERATOR
An impeller is configured to be rotated by a flowing fluid. A fluid stator includes a fixed ring parallel to a plane of rotation of the impeller. The fixed ring has a center in-line with a center of rotation of the impeller. A rotatable ring is rotatable relative to, and parallel to, the fixed ring. The rotatable ring has a center in-line with a center of rotation of the impeller. Stator vanes extend between the fixed ring and the rotatable ring. The stator vanes define an inlet cross sectional area upstream of the impeller. The cross sectional area is dependent upon a relative position of the fixed ring and the rotatable ring. An actuator is configured to rotate the rotatable ring. An electric rotor is coupled to, and configured to rotate in unison with, the impeller. An electric stator encircles the electric rotor. The electric stator includes coil windings.

Phonic wheel and related system and method
A phonic wheel having a body and a tooth is disclosed. An embodiment of the phonic wheel includes a body that is configured to rotate about a rotation axis. The tooth is attached to the body. The tooth has a first axial end relative to the rotation axis, a second axial end opposite the first axial end, and a mid portion extending between the first and second axial ends. The mid portion has a substantially axially uniform height from the body. The first axial end has a greater height from the body than the height of the mid portion.

Variable-section nozzle, and aircraft turbojet engine nacelle equipped with such a nozzle
A variable-section nozzle for an aircraft nacelle includes a deformable portion of which is movable between a narrow section position and a wide section position. In particular, the variable-section nozzle includes piezoelectric actuators and a controller to control the piezoelectric actuators in order to displace the deformable portion between the narrow and wide section positions. The piezoelectric actuators can be disposed on at least one faces of the deformable portion or be disposed end-to-end to form actuating rods.
