A method of regulating pressure in a thermal transport bus of a gas turbine engine, the method including: operating the gas turbine engine with the thermal transport bus having an intermediary heat exchange fluid flowing therethrough, the thermal transport bus including one or more heat source heat exchangers and one or more heat sink heat exchangers in thermal communication through the intermediary heat exchanger fluid; and adjusting a flow volume of the thermal transport bus using a variable volume device in fluid communication with the thermal transport bus in response to a pressure change associated with the thermal transport bus.

PILOTED SEALING FEATURES FOR POWER TURBINE

In a gas turbine engine, coolant (e.g., cooling air) is prone to leak out of the interface between the combustor case, the nozzle of the turbine, and the exhaust diffuser. Embodiments of an interface are disclosed that provide non-fretting sealing using an interference fit between radially facing surfaces of a combustor flange and diffuser flange. In addition, one or more contact sealing lands may be used between the combustor flange and diffuser flange and one or more seals may be provided between various components of the interface to provide additional sealing.

The rotor has a cavity having a concave shape and being formed such that at least a part of the inner race of the first stationary vane is housed in the cavity. The steam turbine includes a steam passage to discharge steam extracted from a space upstream of the first stationary vane in the casing to the cavity from the inner race through the through hole of the first stationary vane.

A booster splitter for a gas turbine engine and a method of additively manufacturing the booster splitter are provided. The booster splitter includes an annular inner wall defining a radially outer boundary of a compressor flow path defined through a compressor section of the gas turbine engine, an annular outer wall spaced apart from the annular inner wall along the radial direction, the annular outer wall adjacent to the annular inner wall at a forward end, the forward end defining an inlet to the compressor flow path, an annular bulkhead spanning between the annular inner wall and the annular outer wall substantially along the radial direction, the bulkhead defining an inlet port, and a passageway defined within the annular outer wall, the passageway extending from the inlet port, into the bulkhead, radially outward to the outer wall, and through the annular outer wall towards the inlet defined by the forward end.

Turbomachinery heat transfer system

A heat management system for turbomachinery is provided. The heat management system includes a thermal delivery system configured to providing heating, cooling, or a combination thereof, to a turbomachinery. The thermal delivery system includes a first heat transfer conduit and a second heat transfer conduit. The second heat transfer conduit is disposed on the turbomachinery adjacent to the first heat transfer conduit. The heat management system additionally includes a controller operatively coupled to the thermal delivery system and configured to control the heating, the cooling, or the combination thereof, of the turbomachinery via the thermal delivery system.
