TURBOCHARGER
A turbocharger is provided with: a rotational shaft; a rolling bearing rotatably supporting the rotational shaft; an oil film damper disposed radially outward of an outer ring of the rolling bearing; and a housing having a first axial retaining portion and a second axial retaining portion, disposed adjacent to both ends of the oil film damper in the axial direction, respectively, for restricting movement of the outer ring in the axial direction. An axial end surface of the outer ring, or a facing surface of the first axial retaining portion or the second axial retaining portion facing the axial end surface of the outer ring has: a coefficient of static friction smaller than that of a portion of the housing excluding the first axial retaining portion and the second axial retaining portion; or has a recess where oil of the oil film damper can enter.
Turbocharger flexible bearing cartridge assembly
A flexible cartridge assembly can include a flexible shell that includes a flexible portion disposed between a compressor-side portion and a turbine-side portion, where the flexible portion includes a series of arc-shaped cutouts disposed axially along at least a portion of the flexible portion; a compressor-side bearing assembly; and a turbine-side bearing assembly.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GAS BEARING SUPPORT OF TURBINE
A bearing assembly for a turbine engine includes a first gas bearing configured to receive a load from a rotating shaft of the turbine engine, a transmission disk configured to receive the load from the first gas bearing, and a damping member coupled to a casing of a combustor section of the turbine engine. The transmission disk includes a gas delivery disk, which includes an axial opening configured to facilitate an axial flow through the gas delivery disk and a duct configured to facilitate a radial flow through the gas delivery disk to form the first gas bearing. The damping member is configured to receive the load from the transmission disk.
ROLLER BEARING ARRANGEMENT FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A roller bearing arrangement for a gas turbine engine. The roller bearing arrangement includes a fan shaft, and a stub shaft connected to the fan shaft. The roller bearing arrangement further includes a plurality of roller bearing elements positioned between a first axial bearing surface created on a radially outer surface of the stub shaft and a second axial bearing surface of a static structure, the roller bearing arrangement further including a first snubber positioned between the radially outer surface of the fan shaft and a radially inner surface of the stub shaft, the first snubber being spaced apart from the radially inner surface of the stub shaft or the radially outer surface of the fan shaft so as to limit a radial movement range of the stub shaft.
Power transmission system and gas turbine engine comprising the same
A power transmission system includes a shaft, a stator disposed within the shaft and substantially concentric with the shaft; and at least one supporting element positioned between the stator and the shaft and configured to support the shaft on the stator to reduce a vibration of the shaft and allow the shaft to rotate relative to the stator. A gas turbine engine including the power transmission system is also described.
DAMPER SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE SHAFT
An engine assembly defining an axial direction (A) and including a gearbox, an engine core including at least one rotor, and a flexible coupling shaft having a first end and a second end along the axial direction (A). The first end of the flexible coupling shaft is connected to the engine core and the second end of the flexible coupling shaft is connected to the gearbox. A damper system is positioned at the second end of the flexible coupling shaft. The damper system is configured to reduce vibrations to the flexible coupling shaft during operation of the engine assembly.
Housing arrangement for a turbomachine as well as turbomachine arrangement having such a housing arrangement and method for manufacturing the housing arrangement
The present invention relates to a housing arrangement for a turbomachine, comprising a support element, which is configured to bear a shaft, and a housing, which is centered at the support element. The housing is composed of an inner housing and an outer housing fastened at the support element, the housings being connected to each other by at least one connecting strut. A press fit is provided between the support element and the inner housing, in order to center the inner housing at the support element.
Flexible support structure for a geared architecture gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan shaft configured to drive a fan, a support configured to support at least a portion of the fan shaft, the support defining a support transverse stiffness and a support lateral stiffness, a gear system coupled to the fan shaft, and a flexible support configured to at least partially support the gear system. The flexible support defines a flexible support transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and a flexible support lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness. The input defines an input transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and an input lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness.
Bearing assembly for supporting rotation of a shaft in a turbocharger
A bearing assembly for supporting rotation of a shaft in a turbocharger includes an inner race extending along an axis. The inner race is configured to be coupled to the shaft. The bearing assembly also includes an outer race spaced radially from the inner race and a cage disposed radially between the inner race and the outer race. The bearing assembly further includes a rolling element disposed radially between the outer race and the inner race. The rolling element is disposed within the cage for supporting rotation of the shaft. The outer race defines a lubricant passageway configured to direct lubricant toward the cage.
