A tesla-type turbine for converting the enthalpy of a gas volume flow into mechanical energy, a method for operating the Tesla-type turbine, and an apparatus for converting thermal energy into mechanical energy, a method for converting thermal energy into mechanical energy, and a method for converting thermal energy into electrical energy. The Tesla-type turbine has at least one disc which is positioned on an axis of rotation and is set into rotation by a gas volume flow flowing substantially tangentially, so that mechanical energy can be collected at a shaft coupled to the disc. A disc body that forms the disc has at least one cavity in which, for the purpose of cooling the disc body, a cooling medium, in particular a cooling liquid, is received or can be received.
Anti-vortex tube retaining ring and bore basket
An anti-vortex tube (AVT) retaining ring and bore basket is provided and includes a unitary body having an inboard portion, an outboard portion and an intermediate portion. The inboard portion includes a first ring-shaped body with an outer diameter. The outboard portion is configured to support an array of AVTs and includes a second ring-shaped body with an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the first ring-shaped body. The intermediate portion includes a flange extending between the outer and inner diameters of the first and second ring-shaped bodies, respectively.
Heat pipe temperature management system for a turbomachine
A turbomachine includes a compressor having an inter-stage gap between adjacent rows of rotor blades and stator vanes. A combustor is connected to the compressor, and a turbine is connected to the combustor. An intercooler is operatively connected to the compressor, and includes a first plurality of heat pipes that extend into the inter-stage gap. The first plurality of heat pipes are operatively connected to a first manifold, and the heat pipes and the first manifold are configured to transfer heat from the compressed airflow from the compressor to heat exchangers. A cooling system is operatively connected to the turbine, and includes a second plurality of heat pipes located in the turbine nozzles. The second plurality of heat pipes are operatively connected to a second manifold, and the heat pipes and the second manifold are configured to transfer heat from the turbine nozzles to the heat exchangers.
Hollow Filled Turbocharger Rotor Shaft
A turbocharger rotor shaft assembly and associated turbocharger that includes at least one turbine rotor member having a first face and an opposed second face; and a rotor shaft having a first end and an opposed second end distal from the first end, wherein the rotor shaft is connected to the at least one turbine rotor at a location proximate to the first end and projects outward therefrom, the rotor shaft having an outwardly oriented face and an interior chamber defined therein, the interior chamber having an interior chamber volume. The turbocharger rotor shaft also includes at least one thermal transfer material contained in the interior chamber of the rotor shaft that has a thermal conductivity value that is greater than the thermal conductivity value of the material of construction of the rotor shaft.
Gas turbine engine vapor cooled centrifugal impeller
A gas turbine engine radial impeller includes first and second impeller portions that are secured to one another along a neutral bending plane of the radial impeller. A vapor cooling cavity is provided between the first and second impeller portions. The neutral bending plane is arranged in the vapor cooling cavity.
FLUID COOLED ROTOR FOR A GAS TURBINE
The present disclosure relates to a rotor for a gas turbine having a plurality of rotor disks arranged one behind the other in a rotor axis and connected to one another, where the geometrical form of the disks leads to the formation of cavities between adjacent disks. The rotor extends from a compressor part to a turbine part and has a central part between the compressor part and the turbine part, wherein the first turbine disk, the last compressor disk and the central part enclose a central cavity. A cooling system extends at least partially through the rotor with a central cooling section disposed between at least one inlet pipe and at least one outlet pipe, at least partially through the first turbine disk and/or the last compressor disk.
Axially-split radial turbines
Embodiments of an axially-split radial turbine, as are embodiments of a method for manufacturing an axially-split radial turbine. In one embodiment, the method includes the steps of joining a forward bladed ring to a forward disk to produce a forward turbine rotor, fabricating an aft turbine rotor, and disposing the forward turbine rotor and the aft turbine rotor in an axially-abutting, rotationally-fixed relationship to produce the axially-split radial turbine.
AERO-ENGINE TURBINE ASSEMBLY
Disclosed is an aero-engine turbine assembly, including a turbine assembly body and a cooling component. The turbine assembly body is provided with an internal flow passage, and the turbine assembly body includes a turbine rotor disk, a blade end wall and a turbine rotor blade, which are successively fixedly connected with each other. The internal flow passage passes through the turbine rotor disk, the blade end wall and the turbine motor blade, and the internal flow passage is provided with an inlet and an outlet. The cooling component is fixed on the turbine rotor disk, and the cooling component includes an electromagnetic pump system, an expansion joint and a radiator, which are successively communicated with each other. The electromagnetic pump system is communicated with the inlet, to inject liquid metal to into the internal flow passage.
ANTI-VORTEX TUBE RETAINING RING AND BORE BASKET
An anti-vortex tube (AVT) retaining ring and bore basket is provided and includes a unitary body having an inboard portion, an outboard portion and an intermediate portion. The inboard portion includes a first ring-shaped body with an outer diameter. The outboard portion is configured to support an array of AVTs and includes a second ring-shaped body with an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the first ring-shaped body. The intermediate portion includes a flange extending between the outer and inner diameters of the first and second ring-shaped bodies, respectively.
PRE-SWIRLER ADJUSTABILITY IN GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A gas turbine engine having a pre-swirler adjustability is presented. The pre-swirler includes a pre-swirler insert installed in a component enclosed by a cover. The component includes an inner compressor exit diffusor enclosed by an outer casing or a shaft cover enclosed by the inner compressor exit diffusor. The pre-swirler is adjustable by replacing the pre-swirler insert. An access port including an access window is arranged on the cover. The access port gives access to the pre-swirler insert for replacement through the access window. The access window includes a manhole or combustor assembly installation hole on the outer casing, or a cutout on the inner compressor exit diffusor. The access port allows adjusting the pre-swirler by replacing the pre-swirler insert installed in the component without lifting the cover enclosing the component.
