Switching rocker arm having cantilevered rollers
A switching rocker arm comprises an outer arm having a pair of integrally formed axles extending outwardly therefrom and an inner arm pivotally secured to the outer arm. A is latch slidably connected to the outer arm and is configured to selectively extend to engage the inner arm. An inner roller is configured on the inner arm, and a pair of outer rollers is mounted on the respective integrally formed axles on the outer arm. A rocker arm for variable valve lift comprises an outer arm comprising outer arm portions, rollers mounted in a cantilevered manner to the outer arm portions, and an inner arm seated between the outer arm portions, the inner arm comprising an inner roller. A pivot axle connects the outer arm and the inner arm. The inner arm and the outer arm are pivotable with respect to one another about the pivot axle.
Valve switching apparatus
A valve switching apparatus includes a rocker arm coming into contact with a cam to open and close a valve along with a rotation of the cam, and an eccentric generation means provided to the rocker arm so as to allow an eccentric position to be changed by rotation thereof.
Latch interface for a valve actuating device
A novel latch seat for a switching rocker arm assembly used in variable valve actuation (VVA) systems for internal combustion engines. The seat is formed interactively in the assembled switching rocker arm using a novel fixture and press. The press interactively creates a curved dimple of the correct curvature, position and depth while measuring several lash dimensions. Since the latch seat is formed on the assembled rocker arm assembly, the latch seat depth is designed to account for the inaccuracies in the rocker arm assembly parts which create lash. Therefore all of the parts may be made with less precision since the latch seat is sized to compensate for the inaccuracies of all of the parts. The rocker arm assembly parts now may be manufactured to less stringent standards, but result in a rocker arm assembly with same accuracy of rocker arm assemblies manufactured to previous standards.
Rocker arm mechanism
A rocker arm mechanism capable of selectively adjusting a timing of opening or closing an intake or an exhaust valve of a plurality of exhaust valves by shifting according to a crankshaft angle and by gradually changing a maximum valve opening, or electively, allows for engine braking by decompression by opening the plurality of exhaust valves before a compression stroke in a plurality of internal combustion engines.
Spring arrangement for a variable valve drive of an internal combustion engine
A spring arrangement for a variable valve drive of an internal combustion engine includes an intermediate lever, a control shaft, a control shaft roller, a working cam contour, and a spring element. The intermediate lever comprises a contact surface, a camshaft roller which bears against a camshaft, and a slot roller which bears against a slotted guide. The control shaft roller is arranged on the intermediate lever to face away from the slotted guide. The control shaft roller bears against the control shaft. The working cam contour is formed at an end of the intermediate lever opposite the camshaft roller. The spring element comprises a force component on the contact surface in the direction of the camshaft and the slotted guide, and an end leg. The spring element loads the camshaft roller against the camshaft and the slot roller against the slotted guide. The end leg bears against the contact surface.
Engine valve actuation mechanism for producing a variable engine valve event
An engine valve actuation mechanism for producing a variable engine valve event includes a cam, a rocker arm, a rocker arm shaft, an eccentric rocker arm bushing, and a bushing actuation device. The eccentric rocker arm bushing is disposed in an axial hole in the rocker arm, the rocker arm shaft being disposed in the eccentric rocker arm bushing with the rocker arm shaft and the eccentric rocker arm bushing having offset axial centerlines. One end of the rocker arm and the cam is connected to form a kinematic pair and the other end of the rocker arm is located above the engine valve with a gap between the cam and the engine valve. The bushing actuation device is placed in the rocker arm and drives the eccentric rocker arm bushing to rotate, and the rotation of the eccentric rocker arm bushing changes the gap to generate the variable engine valve event.
Variable valve mechanism of internal combustion engine
The present invention provides a variable valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine, which includes a rocker arm that includes a roller arm including a roller that rotatably abuts against a cam and a side arm provided at a side of the roller arm and that drives a valve, and a switching device that includes a switching pin and a hydraulic chamber provided inside the rocker arm and that switches a drive state of the valve by displacing the switching pin between a coupling position at which the switching pin extends between the roller arm and the side arm and a non-coupling position at which the switching pin does not extend between the roller arm and the side arm based on variations in hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic chamber. The switching pin is provided on an axis of the roller, and the hydraulic chamber is provided inside the roller arm.
TWO STROKE, OPPOSED PISTON ENGINE WITH COMPRESSION RELEASE BRAKE ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD
A two-stroke, opposed-piston engine includes a cylinder with an inlet piston controlled inlet port and an exhaust piston controlled exhaust port, the cylinder defining a combustion chamber with the inlet piston and the exhaust piston, a charge air channel in flow communication with the inlet port, a conduit extending directly from the combustion chamber to the charge air channel, and a valve arranged to selectively open and close flow communication through the conduit.
Variable valve lift apparatus
A variable valve lift apparatus to vary lift of a valve disposed at an engine may include an outer body selectively making a lever motion according to rotation of a cam, being adapted such that the valve is connected with one end thereof and a pivot axis of the lever motion is disposed at another end thereof, and forming an inside space, an inner body disposed in the inside space of the outer body and adapted such that one end thereof is rotatably connected with the one end of the outer body, a connecting shaft disposed so as to penetrate the one end of the outer body and the one end of the inner body and connect the outer body with the inner body, and a lost motion spring provided so as to return the inner body which is relatively rotated with the outer body around the connecting shaft.
Valve train system for an internal combustion engine
A valve train system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust valve moveable between an exhaust closed position and an exhaust open position. A camshaft includes a main exhaust lobe for moving the exhaust valve between the exhaust closed position and the exhaust open position for expelling exhaust constituents from the combustion chamber and an exhaust rebreath lobe for moving the exhaust valve between the exhaust closed position and the exhaust open position for allowing exhaust constituents into the combustion chamber. A two-step device is provided for transmitting motion from the camshaft to the exhaust valve and is switchable between a motion transmitting position and a motion preventing position such that the motion transmitting position allows motion to be transmitted from the exhaust rebreath lobe to the exhaust valve and the motion preventing position prevents motion from being transmitted from the exhaust rebreath lobe to the exhaust valve.
